Digital Artist Creates the Corvette C8-X by Adapting GM’s CX Concepts to the C8 Platform

As speculation swirls about where Chevrolet will take the Corvette next, one digital artist has already sketched a bold, attention grabbing answer.

Khyzyl Saleem—known to millions of enthusiasts online as The Kyza—has unveiled the Corvette C8-X, an unofficial design study that pushes the eighth generation Corvette into even more extreme territory. We’ve always liked the C8 design, especially when it’s coming and going, but have always felt that the proportions of the side view are “off” and the sharp front end looks too much like a bird beak. The Kyza’s design takes care of those misgivings, at least in this writer’s opinion.

Saleem says he created the C8-X by blending the production C8’s mid engine proportions with the aggressive design language of Chevrolet’s recent CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo concepts. The result is a digital machine that looks part supercar, part race prototype, and entirely unapologetic in its ambition. As he explained, the project began as a simple update to an older C8 rendering but “snowballed” into a full tribute to Corvette and General Motors.

A self described lifelong Corvette fan, Saleem infused the C8-X with nods to the brand’s past, including C5 R inspired fog lights that he joked he “couldn’t NOT do.” The design exaggerates the C8’s sharp lines, adds dramatic aero elements, and incorporates cues that some commenters noted resemble KTM’s radical styling. Saleem embraces the comparison, emphasizing that the goal was creativity, not realism. The C8-X definitely has elements that wouldn’t likely make it to production and sparks our own imagination. For instance, we like the look of the front end, but what do you think about the expanded black area in front of the windshield that chops into the hood?

The response online, in general, has been immediate and enthusiastic. Fans praised the concept’s aggressive stance, motorsports flavor, and imaginative proportions. One commenter called it “the first car I’ve seen that I’ve wanted to build in a long time,” while another urged manufacturers to hire Saleem outright.

The C8-X arrives at a moment when Corvette speculation is already running hot. Rumors of a 2027 Grand Sport revival and Chevrolet’s own futuristic CX and CX.R concepts have fueled conversations about where the brand is headed. Saleem’s rendering doesn’t claim to predict that future—but it captures the excitement, passion, and creative energy that continue to surround America’s sports car.

For now, the C8-X lives only in pixels. Saleem himself says not to take it too seriously. But as Corvette evolves with the C9 Corvette moving closer by the year, ideas like Saleem’s help shape the imagination of the community that has followed our dream car for more than 70 years.
