Last month during the NCM Bash at the National Corvette Museum, I was lucky enough to be able to tour the Corvette Assembly Plant. When we first stepped thru the plant’s main door to the shop floor, there were at least six of these just completed 2026 Corvette ZR1X Quail Silver Limited Edition Convertibles all lined up while another three were spied on the assembly line. It was the first time for laying eyes on these special editions, and the matte silver finish of these cars was spectacular.
However, knowing that it comes with an 8-page PDF guide on just caring for that bespoke paint tells me these cars require a special kind of owner.
Recently a California dealer offered its newly received ZR1X Quail Silver edition on the Bring a Trailer auction platform. As the car comes direct from the dealer and was sold with an MSO, that means the buyer would also have the factory warranty to go along with it. We commented at the time that its the first of these cars offered in a public sale without any restrictions, and we were anxious to see how it would be received.
The Quail Silver Limited Edition offered by Rydell Chevrolet features the ZTK Performance Package, full visible Carbon Fiber Aero Package, visible Carbon Fiber wheels and Orange brake calipers. Inside is the crisp Sky Cool Gray and Medium Ash Gray leather interior with Orange seatbelts and the Level 2 Carbon Fiber Trim. The original MSRP of this ZR1X came in at $290,678.
You could say that the market has spoken, and it really likes Chevy’s Corvette ZR1 Quail Silver Limited Editions. The hammer price (do online auctions have hammers?) was $452,000 which means the dealer made a whopping $160,000 from the sale. They did say that $20,000 of the selling price would be donated to a charity of the winner’s choice, so clearing $140,000 before commission and the $99 BaT listing fee was definitely a positive outcome for Rydell Chevrolet.
The car that was offered was number 19 of the series, and Chevrolet has yet to confirm just how many Quail Silver Limited Editions were being produced for the run. Our belief is that the total number to be built falls somewhere between 50 and 75.
We’ve heard that some dealers are charging some crazy ADMs (additional dealer markups) for these Limited Edition Corvettes, so seeing this “Chevy” coming in at $452K on the open market was an eye-opener. This selling price also beat the only other ZR1X to be offered on Bring a Trailer. A Black ZR1X Coupe was sold in March for $365,000.

Presumably what you meant to say was that the dealer made $160,000 MORE from the sale that it would have if it had sold the Quail for its MSRP, as I am pretty sure that selling at MSRP still nets the dealership a decent profit.
