It’s days like this when I long to be independently wealthy.
This 1968 Corvette convertible that’s undergone massive amounts of work over the past few years would definitely be sitting in my garage, right next to my 1963 split window coupe and 2026 ZR1.
A writer can dream, can’t he?
This gorgeous Stingray is being offered – at NO reserve – on Bring a Trailer, and the high bid has already soared to $40,000, with six days left to see that number likely climb even higher.
The seller bought the car off Bring a Trailer in September 2023 after it had already undergone a body-off restoration four years earlier.
Work in 2019 included a rebuild of the 327 V8 engine with Edelbrock aluminum heads, Mahle forged pistons, SCAT steel crankshaft, SCAT I-beam connecting rods, Comp Cams camshaft, and roller rockers. Other custom touches include an AutoGear Supercase four-speed manual transmission with M22 gearing, not to mention MSD ignition, four-core radiator, and custom exhaust with Hooker headers and MagnaFlow mufflers.
Also receiving attention were the four-wheel disc brakes (including the installation of Wilwood stainless steel brake lines and new master cylinder, booster, rotors, and pads), power steering, and suspension (with Moog springs, Eckler’s shocks and bushings, and Vansteel components added).
The car also received a fresh coat of blue paint, which looks great against either the black soft top or the painted white hardtop, depending on your mood of the day.
The current owner has since continued those efforts to make this car even better, focusing his attention on exterior flaws (repairing fiberglass damage on the front fenders and repainting the front clip, deck lid, and rear top cargo panel), speedometer, and emergency brake and replacing the alternator, passenger door panel and seat covers, dash pads, carpeting, and power window lifters.
Other features include air conditioning, chrome luggage rack, 15-inch Rally wheels, an aftermarket Pioneer sound system, and Stingray side emblems lifted from a later model. We always thought the ’68s look naked without them on the fenders.

Beautiful blue paint. It’s one sweet looker!
Half ass attempt to look original under the hood with air cleaner lid upside down, crappy radiator hose and Frankenstein radiator shroud. The Stingray emblem isn’t even straight. what kind of restoration needs additional body work. The hard top should be a vinaigrette roof, not painted. If it runs great 40k is a fair price.
This one picture is a 1969!!!
Hey Mitch, how about a write up on the other ’68 on BaT? Very rare, 1 of 326 with just one option, the AM/FM radio (not even the stereo model)?
