Corvettes for Sale: Originally a 427, this 1968 Corvette Now Has a 350 V8 Mated to a 4-Speed Manual

The good news is that this 1968 Corvette T-top coupe started life with one of the four optional 427 engines offered that year, ranging in horsepower from 390 to 435.

The bad news is that big block is no longer an occupant under the hood, though on the bright side, it has been replaced with a 350 built to 377 cubic inches, including Holley fuel injection, and is mated to a four-speed manual transmission.

This first-year C3 is being offered on Craigslist by a dealer out of Hoquiam, Washington, with an asking price of $27,500.

Not many other specifics are offered about this Stingray, though we are assured that it has new white-letter BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires and stock Rally wheels, along with “tons” of receipts. In addition, we’re assuming the listing mean “driver quality” black paint and not “driver guilty,” though with that new powerplant itching to be exercised, a driver might find himself “guilty” of speeding a time or two. The car also came with factory A/C, but no word on whether it’s still in functional order 57 years later.

The black interior, meanwhile, looks to be of acceptable quality, so if this one runs as good as it looks, it could still offer lots of thrills for a new owner. Might it be you?

  1. The funny thing is that with a modern 350 build, this is likely not only faster than an original 427, but probably handles better too, from the weight and distribution advantages.
