[ACCIDENT] Two C8 Corvettes and Other High End Motorcars Damaged in Transporter Fire

Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire Thursday morning inside a rolling transport trailer that subsequently damaged five luxury cars, including two C8 Corvettes, in Lookout Valley near Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Photos posted by the Chattanooga Fire Department show crews using a ladder truck with an aerial master stream to spray water from above on the burning trailer that suffered major damage.

A Hypersonic Gray C8 with a door sign saying “Crown East” and a windshield banner saying “Crown Invitational” can be seen inside the trailer with what looks to be minor damage, but another photo shows the charred remnants of a vehicle that’s hard to identify because it’s so badly damaged.

Also destroyed by the blaze were an Audi R8 and two McLaren 720s, according to the CFD.

Writing on the trailer indicates it was operated by VIP Transport out of Charlotte, North Carolina and Vantage Motorworks, Inc., out of North Miami, Florida, a luxury car dealer currently offering several high-dollar Bentleys and Rolls-Royces.

The driver told fire officials that he was traveling on Interstate 24 when a passing driver alerted him to smoke coming from the trailer. He pulled off the interstate and into the back parking lot of a QT gas station on Browns Ferry Road west of Chattanooga.

When he looked inside the trailer, he saw the cars on fire and called 911. No injuries were reported. Engine 1, Ladder 5, Engine 5, Battalion 1 and CFD Investigators responded about 9:45 a.m.

According to the CFD, the property owner and trucking company are working together on the cleanup process, while stormwater officials and the property owner discussed how to handle all of the runoff.
