Check out this fascinating video from overnight in Historic South Central Los Angeles as a C6 Corvette coupe goes up in flames – at least partially, that is.

Firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived on the scene around 12:30 a.m. Thursday on the 3200 block of South Main Street, where they found the little red Corvette fully engulfed in flames, along with unknown items on the sidewalk beside it and a second vehicle in front of it. A third car behind the Corvette was able to be saved from the blaze.

In less than 10 minutes, firefighters were able to extinguish both cars, though at the :29 second mark in the video, a small exploding sound can be heard. Later in the clip, the Corvette flares up again and a crew member can be seen having to direct a torrent of water straight into the interior.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, though it seems likely an engine fire based on the heavy damage to the front end of the Corvette.

We figured the plastic body of the car would be completely consumed by the blaze, but believe it or not, a good bit of the panels remained after it was extinguished. Perhaps some of our readers who have experience with such a fire can tell us if any parts of the car might be able to be salvaged.
