Update: Roger provided some additional clarifications to his report today, and the actual number of ZR1s produced are 9 and not the 16 that we first mentioned. We apologize for the incorrect information.
Corvette watchers who are wanting to learn more about production generally have couple different go-to sources that offers up to date production counts. One is C8Tracker.com which utilizes publicly available Window Stickers to extract the latest production data, and the other is Roger Kiel’s daily production spreadsheet which he shares on Facebook’s C8 Corvette Owners (and Friends) group.
We’ve been a big fan of Roger’s work and you’ll hear us cite his figures every two weeks when we provide the latest production data on the Corvette Today Podcast. We generally check in with Roger’s spreadsheet ever few days just to get the “lay of the land,” and yesterday, we got the first production update that includes production of the new ZR1. Thankfully, the news is even better than we expected.
According to Roger’s numbers, a total of 9 new ZR1s were assembled over the last week and we like what we are seeing with the cadence so far as well which appears to be roughly two cars per day. The first day of production which started on April 28th should have seen Rick Hendrick’s VIN 001 ZR1 going down the assembly line, and on Monday Roger reported the 8th and 9th cars were completed.
One of the things that has concerned us lately is that Roger hasn’t shown any new E-Rays produced for the last three week with his last VIN ending on 1897. However, when we jump over to the C8Tracker.com they have window stickers for E-Rays through Monday May 5th with their last VIN ending in 2166, so we are unsure of the discrepancy in reporting completed E-Rays.
Meanwhile, we still haven’t seen any Window Stickers produced yet for the ZR1 and we probably shouldn’t expect them for a least a few more weeks, most likely as the cars are expected to be held for an undetermined time for quality checks. We’ll be keeping our eye on the daily production stats and will bring any new information that we come up with to you.
