We’ve known since last year that the 2025 Corvette ZR1 was going to be the official pace car for the 2025 Indianapolis 500, as well as the fact that NFL Hall of Famer Michael Strahan was going to be the official driver of the pace car. Fox Sports has taken over the broadcast rights for IndyCar in 2025 and they made the official announcement on Thanksgiving Day.
However, today was the day for the official reveal of the 2025 Corvette ZR1 Indy 500 Pace Car and it sure doesn’t disappoint. Like the official unveiling of this year’s Festival Corvettes and Silverados, the ZR1 is wearing the same Arctic White exterior with Emerald Green and Gold graphics, and a modified racing stripe that plays into the ZR1’s front hood design.
The ZR1 Pace Car is a split window coupe with body color vents separating the rear windows. It’s also shown with its visible carbon fiber wheels, as well as the carbon aero package that features a stripe on the large wing as well as yellow end plates with the Indy 500’s iconic wheel and wings logo. Safety lights have been integrated throughout the car and we can see them on top of the split rear windows”
“Chevrolet is proud that the 2025 Corvette ZR1, our fastest Corvette ever, will be the Official Pace Car for the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500,” said Scott Bell, global Chevrolet vice president. “With a top speed of 233 mph, the Corvette ZR1 is the perfect fit to lead the Indy 500 field to green.”
The 2025 Corvette ZR1 is well-suited for official pace car duty as it delivers 1,064 horsepower from its 55L twin-turbo V8 engine which is the most powerful V8 ever produced in America. The Corvette ZR1 offers incredible acceleration – capable of zero to 60 mph in 2.3 seconds before rushing through the quarter-mile in 9.6 seconds at 150 mph, making it the quickest Corvette ever.

The Chevrolet Corvette is the longest-running car nameplate in automotive history and it’s no surprise to see that Corvette has also paced “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” more times than ever. The 2025 race marks the 36th time for Chevrolet to pace dating back to 1948 and the 22nd time overall, all since 1978, for America’s favorite sports car.
“As we anticipate another iconic Indianapolis 500, we are once again excited to have the incredible American sports car Corvette pacing the field,” IMS and INDYCAR President J. Douglas Boles said. “The race car-like performance of the Corvette ZR1 makes it the perfect car to pace the Indianapolis 500, and the distinctive sound of the Chevrolet V8 engine will echo brilliantly inside the walls of IMS.”
The 109th running of the Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for Sunday, May 25th with the Green Flag signifying the start of the race at 12:45 pm ET. The race will be shown on FOX.

I was hoping for a killer bright green on the 2026 Corvette, perhaps similar to the Camaro’s 2010-11 Synergy Green Metallic or 2017 Krypton Green non-metallic (Hey, we’re bringing back old colors on new Corvettes, so why not the Synergy or Krypton, right?), but we got the new Roswell Green. Maybe, just maybe, fingers crossed, Roswell will look good once we actually see it on a car. However, I’m looking at the photos of the dark green stripe graphics package on this new pace car and think, “Hey, THAT green would have looked good on a C8!” The graphics green of this pace car remind me of the Corvette’s 1967 Goodwood Green Metallic. Maybe add a little gold metallic or gold pearl to the formula. Or both. And, yeah, let’s do some Limited Edition Heritage colors. New formulas, of course. Come on, Chuck V., push for it! Robert Casey, All Corvette Colors, Codes & Quantities
They should have went with a black on black ZR1 with blue wheels and blue graphics for the Pace Car. That’s a nice looking combination.
Robert Casey hit the nail on the head. The first pic I saw of the Green/White livery for this year–I was asking why that isn’t a green color option for the new model year. And now with RG instead of EG being shown for 2026, I stand by that opinion more than ever.
When half your base wants a darker green like BRG or EG, and half your base wants a bright, fluorescent green or neon green–you don’t try and split the difference and come out with something fugly like Roswell. Either offer both at the same time, or split the difference and change it up with the next model year.
I hate Competition Yellow, but I can at least respect that we had 5 years of AYM before it got dropped for CY. GM has done nothing of the sort with green, and Roswell is a giant swing and a miss.
Color perception is “subjective”, and certain colors have a very universal significant. This is coded into our ‘reptilian brain’, giving us that instinctive feeling of fire being dangerous and the beach being relaxing.
Many car commercials show ‘black’ as their model because this certain color is associated with affluence and seriousness. This leads the consumer to believe that their product is worth buying?
Please note: Black is not a color but a value.
Many thanks,
Ray
