[VIDEO] Grand Sport Delivery Day is Here!

One of biggest days in the life of Corvette owner is the day they take delivery of their new car. Even if you have owned multiple C8 Corvettes like our friend Mike Brink has over the years, delivery day is still a magical experience.

We’ve been following Mike’s order for his 2027 Corvette Grand Sport from the beginning and so it’s fun to finally see it in the showroom ready for its new owner. Another cool aspect of this delivery is that Mike’s family and friends also showed up to his dealer Huffines Chevrolet in Plano, TX to be part of the special occasion.

As far as the specs on this car go, it’s a beautiful modern version of the original 1996 Corvette Grand Sport that Mike has been obsessing over since his early days. It features the classic Admiral Blue exterior with the wide white racing stripe, and the red hashmarks which now appear on the rear quarter-panels of the car. Mike went with a 2LT Coupe version and added black wheels, red brake calipers, a sueded-microfiber steering wheel and the Jet Black interior which includes GT2 seats, custom red stitching, and a Grand Sport personalized plaque that reads “BOS | America 250.” Altogether, his MSRP was $104K.

Now that Mike has taken delivery of the car, you can expect that he’s already working up some cool content ideas around it and the new 535-hp LS6 V8 engine. Of course, we’re excited as we will be able to check out this new dream machine for ourselves this Friday and Saturday at the Corvette Invasion show in Bastrop, Texas.

For those of you who also have a new Grand Sport on order, you have this to look forward to!

  1. What a poser. What a downgrade. Flipping his ER because “muh residual value”, and getting a glorified, less powerful barbie-mobile that is an affront to the car he had previously.

This is why I don’t watch Corvette Tubers outside of SG.

  2. More variety in Corvettes is a good thing as far as I’m concerned, IPD – more choices for more customers is a good thing – but I’d make the same trade as Mike 10 out of 10 times.

Grand Sport is a historical nameplate, its also the best looking car in the lineup, especially in Mike’s classic color combo. Until a couple years ago, all ‘Vettes were RWD and didn’t bother with heavy hybrid tech, so the real argument to be made, if you want to make such a claim, is that the E-Ray (and, admittedly, the ZR1X) is the poser ‘Vette.

  3. Mike def chose well by going with the awesome classic Grand Sport exterior with Admiral Blue paint, white stripe, red hash marks and gloss black wheels. C7 Grand Sports dressed up like that look mean as hell too!

  4. @AJS,

I’m glad you don’t make these decisions @ GM. The Corvette would be a manual-only, F/R car with leaf springs–if you were running the show.

The only argument to be had is whether GM should have reserved the AWD C8 variants for a Cadillac nameplate–not whether they should exist. Not offering them means that GM has NOTHING compelling to offer vs. their competitors like the LC500, SL63 and M8. Fit and finish is still sub-par; and not worth compromising on for “yet another RWD” offering.
