For nearly two decades, Joe’s 1990 C4 Corvette sat forgotten in a barn, buried under dust, debris, and the kind of neglect that turns a sports car into a time capsule.

It wasn’t just a car to him, though. It belonged to his late wife — the one who used to slide behind the wheel, drop the hammer, and make the tires howl. So when the WD Detailing crew arrived to revive the abandoned Corvette, they were restoring a whole lot more than fiberglass.

But the team knew it wasn’t just an ordinary cleaning job. They were preparing a surprise.

Joe had told them the Corvette meant a lot to him because his wife used to drive it. She’d take it out for errands and return with a grin — and sometimes a story. As the crew worked, they uncovered the car’s mechanical heart: a six speed manual paired with the L98 V8, still intact beneath the filth. After draining 20 year old fuel, replacing the battery, and checking fluids, their mechanic Adam gave the signal. “All right, as Joe might say, it’s time to tickle the key.”

The Corvette fired to life — and immediately shot fake chicken eggs out of the exhaust. The team laughed, revved it again, and watched one more plastic egg launch across the driveway. Four for four.

But the reveal didn’t happen that day. Joe had been rushed to the hospital with serious health issues. He spent four days there, receiving blood transfusions and preparing for more tests. The crew decided the Corvette wasn’t enough — they wanted to lift his spirits even higher.

Joe is a huge Jimmy Buffett fan, so they bought him a Margaritaville guitar, signed it, and brought it along for the reveal.
