General Motors’ all-new advanced design studio located in the United Kingdom recently unveiled its take on the Chevrolet Corvette C9.
We already showed you that version, and it’s definitely wild and crazy, to lift a description coined years ago by comedian Steve Martin.
Naturally, though, the internet grabbed hold of this UK version and took it even further.
For example, Vengeance Graphix, an automotive service outlet specializing in “next level car show boards,” came up with its own take of the upcoming C9, dubbing it the Blackbird.
At first that name didn’t make sense to us and like most longtime Corvette fans, we considered it an affront to the usual Stingray-linked monikers.
But then we remembered the Lockheed SR-71 “Blackbird” spy plane’s flight from London to New York and still the fastest air-breathing aircraft ever manned by humans, despite dating to the 1970s.
Considering that the C9 will likely be one of the fastest cars ever built, the Blackbird tribute seems like a logical choice, if longtime enthusiasts are willing to overlook the missing traditional Stingray identifier. Of course, any use of that name would be far from the most jarring break from tradition anyway since the UK design is based on being an electric-based car, quite a shock to the usual Corvette customer.
To continue the Blackbird reference, Vengeance Graphix added a matte black finish, a jarring change from the original white UK GM design and one that in our opinion makes the car look super-aggressive.
Since the C9 will likely appear in the late ’20s or early ’30s, when the Corvette would be closing in on its 80th birthday, maybe it’s time to debut some new names. What do you think?

This Corvette is so cool. It is a fantastic design. Put me down for at least one.

Please, We need an American Corvette C9 that the working class can afford? The alternative is China and the Korean’s will provide the solutions? GM is under an existential threat! Aren’t we tiered of the the people republic’s of China’s world dominations?’ The Corvette C9 ‘must’ offer a manual transaxle that Corvette owner’s demand, and built in America (100%).

There was an even better looking very sleek design released a few years back on Instagram from Vlad Kapitonov @ GM Design.

How far does GM want to take the Corvette in terms of extreme styling and cost.
Extensive use of exotic materials. Assembly and collision repair. Maintainence cost and scduale.
The C8 E Ray, Z06 and ZR 1 all start at well over $100,000 and easily run into the mid 100s.
With Cadillac carring the GM banner into F1 soon, perhaps a supercar in styling, price and performance might make more sense prestige and market wise.
Enough with the Batman stuff. GM, get back to reality.

the C8 is not heresy enough?
Lets offer up a traditional front engine roadster with a cloth top and a 6 speed manual at a price point again.
IN ADDITION…. to the forth coming, not as much fun, million $ mid engine whatever….
Total fail. Looks more F117 Nighthawk than SR71 Blackbird. It is chaotically angular and stylistically a mess like an ’80 Lambo. I think a C8 with the smooth flowing curves and only a few abrupt body lines would be more of an SR 71 Mamba and definitely compatible with the Stingray legacy.
