When we posted about Lingenfelter Performance Engineering’s awe-inspiring upgrade that turns any C8 Corvette Stingray or E-Ray’s LT2 V8 into a 7.0L, 427 cubic inch animal that makes 700 horsepower without forced induction, it sparked a lot of conversation. The majority of the discourse kicked off by LPE’s incredible feat had people dreaming. “What if they DID slap a pair of turbos on this motor,” was a common refrain in our comment section and in forums, Subreddits, and car gatherings around the country.

Well, as you might expect, the small-block wizards of Decatur, Indiana, were way ahead of us on this one! In a recent interview with Road & Track (that is absolutely worth a full read!), Lingenfelter vice-president of sales and marketing Brandon Baker gave a rare peak behind the curtain. A 427 with twins is indeed on the way!

An LPE TT427 development mule is already running around with a few thousand miles on the clock. Baker says the firm is wisely waiting for warmer weather to arrive to complete final testing, but on race fuel, the package should deliver more than 1,100 horsepower at… the… wheels! That translates to roughly 1,300 horses at the crank!

He also revealed that the package is designed to mirror the turbo layout that Chevrolet chose for the ZR1’s already legendary flat-plane LT7 V8 and that they’ll be able to meet their performance benchmarks with just 15 psi of boost, compared to the 20 that the factory is running in its new halo car.

Pricing for the twin-snail upgrade is yet to be announced, but the 427 itself starts around $30,000 and touches $35k if the buyer wants the peak numbers offered by the optional intake manifold, throttle body, and exhaust. On top of the turbos, the kit will also require an upgraded fuel system, so it isn’t going to be cheap, but the most compelling options rarely are, and LPE’s latest creation certainly qualifies for that label!
