This 1962 Corvette convertible appears to have many of its original parts, including the Honduras Maroon paint.

After sitting for many years, the car was purchased by the current owner, who says he planned to restore it, but health issues have now gotten in the way.

Now he’s decided to let someone else tackle the project and is offering his last-year-of-the-C1s on eBay, where 37 bids have already been placed, climbing to a high so far of $36,200, with nearly eight days to go in the auction.

Alas, the original engine – believed by the current owner possibly to have been a fuel-injected RPO 582 – is no longer residing under the hood. Too bad since this $484.20 option made it the most powerful version of the 327 that year with 360 horsepower.

The seller admits he doesn’t know for sure if the car ever was a real “fuelie,” though he points for possible proof to the holes for the injection hoses still being there and the seemingly original fender emblems in place as well. “I’m not sure how to really tell,” he says.

In any case, the existing engine now is apparently a 1965 327/300 horsepower version that he believes was replaced “a long time ago” by a previous owner. Its current condition remains unknown as the seller says he hasn’t tried to get it running.

The car includes a hardtop described as being in “great condition in and out,” and likewise the black canvas top looks “like new,” too.

The paint isn’t perfect, though it doesn’t seem to have any bare spots and still shows some shine in photos. The black interior, meanwhile, looks to be in more than acceptable condition, with all gauges intact and the dash and upholstery in good shape. The owner even shows a photo of part of the chrome before and after some polishing, and it looks like a little elbow grease could work wonders.

Could this be the project C1 you’ve been waiting for?

  1. Focus on getting it sorted mechanically and then enjoy driving it! The exterior and interior both look decent.

  2. Get it running and get more $$, I like the 57-72 Vettes but I’m a Po Boy after restoring a 68 Chevelle lol
