The Corvette ZR1 Configurator came out today and it’s been a lot of fun putting together different looks with the car. We’ve got a Blogger Builds post coming up shortly with each of us here on CorvetteBlogger sharing our builds, so stay tuned for that!
On Tuesday morning we thought we caught something new on the ZR1, which is the piece of visible carbon fiber that sits in the front wheel wells. Chevy called us to say its just a mistake and it’s not actually on the ZR1. If they tried to fix it, it would take down the configurator and they didn’t want to do that with ordering opening up this week. But on closer review, we think this “ghost in the machine” may be something bigger. Is this part of the C8 ZORA’s aero package hiding in plain sight?
I totally missed this until Chevy had me take a closer look at it. I guess the Streisand Effect is real! You can clearly see that this Corvette from the ZR1 configurator is also equipped with the vertical radiator that’s part of the E-Ray’s cooling package. Only the E-Ray has this, and we’ve seen it on suspected ZORA prototypes as well.
As to what that piece of aero does on the front of the car like that remains to be seen. To us, it looks like it would raise airflow up and over the side and the door of the car. I went back to look at some ZORA spy shots and this flare piece isn’t on those cars either.

So is the C8 Corvette ZORA hiding on the ZR1’s Configurator? Still too early to tell, but man does Chevy have some bad luck with their configurators.

THE “ZORA” TRIBUTE CORVETTE’S SHOULD BE ALL SILVER LIKE HIS ‘RACERS’. A SUBTLE ADDING OF GRAPHICS AS SIGNED OFF BY THE CORVETTE TEAM. SEATS ‘LOGO’D AND A SPECIAL ‘ZORA’ STEERING WHEEL – FOR CERTAIN! ZORA STEERING WHEELS WERE SOLD LONG AGO WITH AN ENGRAVED SIGNATURE. MAKE HIS STEERING WHEEL UNIQUE TO “HIS” CAR!! GO AHEAD, GUYS. PUT A “ZORA’ SILVER SIGNATURE UNDER THE HOOD. HE’D HAVE DONE THAT, ANYWAY: [A ZORA STORY]: I WORKED @ HOLLEY DETROIT. 70’S 80’S. ZORA WORKED ON THE HOLLEY “Z” INTAKE. CAME TO OFFICE IN A GREEN ’74 ROADSTER 454″ IN THE SNOW! WHAT A FUN GUY! LIKE A KID, BUT KIND’A TALKED FUNNY! HE WAS THE BEST – MAKE THE ‘ZORA’ … “ZORA’S” off soap box!
“Spats” around the front wheels were on the wide body C7. So, why not? I had mine painted body color. Looked so much better than black.
Yep and guess what… This indicates the Zora will get the LT7. Could this settle the debate if the Zora is an ERay with a Z06 LT6 or an ERay with a ZR1 LT7. It’s clear to me the configurator show the same car that has the ERay radiator and extra front wheel well aero bits, ALSO HAD an LT7 in the engine bay. Just go to the configurator photo of said car that is looking down from a high vantage on the ZR1 driver side – you can see the front fender aero bits and the LT7 at the same time (same photo). Conclusive? I vote yes!
Seems the me they let 2 cats out of the bag today. Zora aero surprise and Zora powerplant. But then again… We all knew the Zora was likely getting the LT7.
They missed the shadow of Zora’s face in the back window.
Since the odds of getting a 75th anniversary edition Zora are about as good as the odds of having a team of supermodels run a train on me–I’m just going to lament that I’ll never be able to own one. Even if I have 100% of the funds sitting in the bank.
