Ever since we saw the 2025 Corvette ZR1 hit 233 MPH in its top speed testing at the ATP track in Papenburg, Germany, we had a feeling that track records would start falling once the car got into the hands of gentleman racers.

The good news is that we don’t need to wait any longer as Chevrolet just released this new video with the 2025 Corvette ZR1 setting five new track records across the USA.

Chevrolet’s four test drivers targeted these historic tracks for the lap record assault. The four test drivers are Bill Wise, Lead Performance Engineer – Chassis Controls, Brian Wallace, Lead Vehicle Dynamics Engineer, Chris Barber, Lead Development Engineer, and Aaron Link – Global Vehicle Performance Manager. The five tracks include:

• Watkins Glen
• Road America
• Road Atlanta
• Virginia International Raceway Full Course
• Virginia International Raceway Grand Course

The Corvette ZR1 used in these track tests was a preproduction Corvette ZR1 model with optional ZTK Performance Package which also adds the Carbon Fiber Aero Package that includes the large high wing, front dive planes and the taller gurney lip where the frunk would be. The ZTK package also adds the track-focused suspension tuning, stiffer springs, and the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires.

Chevy tells us that the drivers have a combined 65 years of GM Level 6 driving experience which is the highest driving certification at the automaker, and each driver is also certified to drive at the Nürburgring during the industry pool test dates. Here’s the results from those five US tracks and the driver who set the record:

• Watkins Glen Long Course: 1:52.7. Driver: Bill Wise
• Road America: 2:08.6. Driver: Brian Wallace
• Road Atlanta: 1:22.8. Driver: Chris Barber
• Virginia International Raceway Full Course: 1:47.7. Driver: Aaron Link
• Virginia International Raceway Grand Course: 2:32.3. Driver: Aaron Link

“Corvette ZR1 continues to showcase how this nameplate elevates at every corner,” Corvette executive chief engineer Tony Roma said. “From design, engineering, development, validation, to driving and setting incredible lap records like these – we do it all in house.”

  1. These are utterly amazing lap times. You guy smashed the records.
WAY TO GO TEAM CORVETTE !
    C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S ! !

  2. These are very good times. Something I expected. They’re very good. But when I compare them to the C7 ZR1, the C8 is about 1.3 seconds faster per 100 horsepower, not taking into account much better tires, DCT, downforce, and PTM evolution

  3. wow – my top speed with my 2010 Grand Sport going into the bus stop at Watkins Glen was 145MPH, and he hit that coming out of the Esses!

  4. Very impressive times for a car I perceive and seemingly marketed as a grand touring with some track capability but not radical track capabilities.
Most importantly, very smart of them to quintuple their efforts on US FIA certified tracks where most of the customer base will spend their time vis a vis spending money and time attempting records in Europe when they don’t plan to sell a single ZR1.

  5. The German Marquess, Mercedes-Benz AMG’s 2.7 million dollar Hypercar has become the first street-legal vehicle to circle the Nurburgring in under 6:30. The pilot Mr. Marco Engel, sped around the winding circuit in 6:29.090. Powered by a F1-derived 1.6-liter V6 and four electric motors that combined to pump out over 1,000 hp. Moreover, the vehicle has also set lap records at the Hockenheimring, the Red Bull Ring, and the Monza circuit.

AMG Mercedes promised that its Hypercar would push automotive boundaries and so far it’s done just that?

    Many thanks,
    Ray

The AMG-One IS a modified formula one car and IS NOT homologated for street use nor street-legal.
