Editor’s Note:
This afternoon we heard from a Chevrolet representative who said that this was an error on the Configurator only and that this flare is not on the ZR1. Instead of having to take the site down to make the repair, the team wanted to leave it functional so that customers can continue to build their ZR1s prior to ordering this Thursday. However, we think there may be something else to this, like maybe it’s the C8 ZORA hiding in plain sight! – Keith
On Tuesday morning, Chevrolet launched the new Build and Buy Configurator for the upcoming 2025 Corvette ZR1, and it has revealed a new visible carbon fiber feature that was previously unknown to us. In fact, we are going back to various photos of the different ZR1 show cars and even this preproduction ZR1 export model captured in the wild over the weekend and we’re not finding them anywhere.
The new visible carbon fiber piece resides in the front wheel wells, and it reminds us of the flares or ‘spats’ as they were called that Chevrolet used on the C7 widebodies to increase the coverage of the wider tires on the Z06 and Grand Sport.
We found these new visible carbon fiber ‘spats’ on the 2025 ZR1 only on the configurator and it doesn’t matter if you selected the ZTK and the Carbon Fiber Aero Package as they are also included on the base ZR1s according to the photos.
In this configurator photo of a ZR1 with the base aero, you can see that the visible carbon fiber flare starts at the 1 o’clock position of the wheel well and then it extends down past the front splitter:
It’s interesting that we are only seeing these pieces now, and we can’t wait to see them on a real car. This is one of those times where we could have reached out to Kirk Bennion to get the scoop on these new carbon fiber pieces, but sadly that ship has sailed.
