Is Chevrolet’s new Corvette ERAY coming sooner rather than later? The big news dropping late Friday afternoon is the 2024 Corvette ERAY has been captured on the Visualizer, which not only gives us our first look at how it will look, the leak also details the new exterior and interior colors for 2024.

Chevrolet’s next version of the C8 Corvette following the Z06 has long been expected to be the ERAY, a widebody mid-engine powered by the LT2 V8 with electric assist motors on the front axles. The first visualizer renderings show the same Z06 widebody however, all the trim is in body color. The ERAY name appears on the lower rear quarter panel, and we see the car has the outboard corner-mounted exhaust.

The ERAY model will have a ZER Performance Package, but we have no idea what that will include. I can see the underside strakes on the car with the ZER package selected. There is also the opportunity to select the painted and Visible Carbon Fiber Wheels. As for the wheel designs, there are four 5-spoke aluminum wheels and three carbon fiber designs.

The link to the ERAY Visualizer has been taken down, but we did get an official statement from a Chevrolet representative that said, “Looks like the holidays came early for a few astute Corvette fans. Stay tuned for more.”

That sounds pretty exciting! Here are some of the screen grabs we managed to get before the visualizer went offline:

This photo below comes from the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com by the original poster and it’s the most significant pic yet as it shows the ReGen on Demand button that allows the regenerative brake system to capture the energy produced when braking and convert it back into charging the batteries. Regen On Demand is also known as “one-pedal driving” as it allows the driver to brake without using the brake pedal as it’s engaged whenever the accelerator pedal is released. Unfortunately, that other button has been identified as an “Auto Start-Stop Button.” Does that mean the LT2 shuts down when the car is stopped and then restarts as you release the brake? Does anyone want that feature? However, the barking exhaust note that happens whenever the car is restarted should be fun. This is also a closeup of the new Artemis interior:

Check out this funky rendering that appeared as I was spinning the ERAY. It appears to show side rockers, front canards, and rear wings. It only appeared on this one car and only at this one angle.

New Exterior and Interior Colors

For the 2024 model year, Chevrolet appears to be offering 13 exterior colors with three new colors entering and four going away. The colors going away are Ceramic Matrix Gray, Elkhart Lake Blue, Caffeine Metallic, and the White Pearl Tri-Coat. The 70th Anniversary’s Carbon Flash Black Metallic is sticking around and the new additions for 2024 are:

  • Riptide Blue Metallic
  • Cacti
  • Sea-Wolf Gray Tri-Coat

In the ERAY’s interior, the 70th Anniversary’s Ceramic interior is gone and replaced with a new color called Artemis which appears to be a very dark green or gray. It looks to go perfectly with the new Cacti exterior, which you can see in the photo above. The ERAY will also get the Level 2 Carbon Fiber interior trim package and the Stealth interior trim package as well.

Our friends at the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com are also sharing photos so check them out there as well.

  1. The “Cacti” exterior color is the most interesting piece of info for me. Is it matte like the Blackwing’s Dark Emerald Frost and the Hummer’s Moonshot Green? Looks good with that Artemis interior, I wonder if that’s the same hue that comes standard in the Silverado ZR2?

Nice to have a good, dark gray again, too!

  2. I am all for the E Ray but Mary can’t even build a Z where the hell are they going to get the parts for an E Ray? I work with electric motors up to 250 HP every day and none I mean none of them are built in the USA any more all forced off shore or to Mexico buy the EPA.

  3. I have always been a fan of the Grand Sports. Sure, less power than a Z06…but all the looks and driving advantages of the Z06 without the Z06 price tag. Besides…For my use, I wouldn’t be able to really take advantage of the extra power anyway. So for the C8, I am the kind of guy they are trying to market to when it comes to the ERay. And to be honest, if not for finances, this would be my choice.

I don’t think full electrification is the way to go right now (in general)…For one, we will need to AT LEAST double our electric Infrastructure just to support it. Most suburban streets can only handle 2 EV’s as it is right now.

With that said. I am not blind to the advantages that electrification can bring. I do think Hybrids are a much better way to move towards electrification. I don’t think electric sports cars are a joke….Take a look at the RIMAC. The Tesla Plaid while not the best looking car would spank our beloved Vettes. Heck the LMP1’s have been DEISEL Hybrids and are out of this world. Almost every high performance car maker has some sort of hybridization. Be it KERS, or other form. There is a reason for that.

I have always felt the Corvette was at a disadvantage in comparisons as the other cars were AWD. And with the Front Engine Rear Transaxle…AWD didn’t and doesn’t make sense. Purists might scoff even at the idea of AWD. Traditionally the Car has been Front Engine RWD with a long front hood, etc. But that is not what I think of as Corvette’s tradition and heritage. For me it was about Zora’s vision, which was performance first. That is why I wasn’t overly upset with the C8, nor about the flat plane crank on the Z06. I prefer the lower rumble of the Cross plane 6.2…But that new engine is more than just special. I have appreciation for both the move to mid engine and FPC.

The ERay is the best of both worlds for me. It’s wide body. You get the low burble grunt of the 6.2. And an acceleration and launch that will shame every Corvette before it. Yes it will out accelerate the current Z06. Now it won’t beat the Z06 around a track…lets keep it real…but you get controllable launches that are ridiculous. You get all that AND better city mpg????? Sign me up…lol For those who track their car…I don’t know how the turn in will be with the AWD, but the corner exit will be glorious.

In the end…you need to do you…and I need to do me. I have loved the Corvette for over 45 yrs…starting with my Uncle’s 67 Convertible. It is a passion. And I…well, I wouldn’t hesitate on the ERay.

  4. Amazing! 4 new gray colors I can’t tell the difference between and Exorcist Vomit Green. My God man.

Glass half full; Ceramic Matrix Baby Blue is FINALLY gone.

  5. After owning two C4 Corvettes ( 88 and 92) , and now on my second Jaguar (2000 XK8 and 2017 F-Pace) I’m gaga over the C8. Drove the Jag F-Type but was disappointed. The E-Ray beckons.

  6. i’m #1 at a volume dealership so i should get an early option to buy the Eray, I’m helpless , Corvettes are just one of my additions…So, what color ?

  7. Heard a rumor that GM is considering lowering the price of the 2023 Z06 and all the options available. Probably so they can sell more cars. No more Dealer mark-ups.

  8. Like a friend of mine said “All goods things come to an end ” . So it is with the gasoline corvettes. The best Vettes in my opinion were the !965 to 1967 with their beautiful style and disc brakes. I had a 1965 small block with 411 rear end gears and a 1966 big block. I really like these vettes because they were so very easy to work on. I would do everything myself from brakes to pulling the engine and trans to front end work to replacing all the wheel bearings, etc. There was nothing a diy’er couldn’t fix themselves!. We now own a 1968 conv. for the last 43 years that about 35 years ago I removed the body by myself and rebuilt everything that went on the frame because the old frame rusted out by the rear wheels. Took me 7 months in the evenings. All the newer generation corvettes in secession get harder for a diy’er to work on. The older corvettes were affordable to more people because of the ability to repair yourself and lately none of the auto’s today can be worked on by a diy’er. I don’t like taking my car to a dealer or mechanic to get ripped off or pay high rates at the dealerships. So none of these new vettes are for my kind of people. I really do like the style of the C-7 but thats it. JMO

  9. I don’t think this ‘leak’ was an accident by any stretch, nor were the Chazcron renderings a ‘good guess’ as we ultimately saw after the reveal in 2019. Any OEM has tight controls on these kind of things. I’d know; I work for one in the aero industry. Networks are so secure that if you captured so much as a screenshot, youll be found out immediately!

This said, this is obviously to gauge interest right now, I say go ahead and start production. Give VIN #1 to Rick Hendrick per tradition, then #2-on to a blue collar guy who’s been waiting forever…

  10. Sounds like a vacuum cleaner going down the road-have fun w that…I’d rather have a rumbling V-8….EV are for skinny jeans and latte peeps…not me..

  11. Did they fix the button location on the display? It should be upper right, jot upper left. Serious issue for me. Haha. But really, did no one think about it.
