In his latest video which dropped a couple of days ago, automobile reviewer extraordinaire Doug DeMuro got his hands on the new 2025 Corvette ZR1 and offers a great breakdown of Chevy’s new super car, including a look at what Doug refers to as the car’s “quirks” which are always interesting!
Doug takes us all around the new King of the Hill, talking about the ZR1’s impressive performance with a top speed of 233 mph and the ability to go 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds, making the ZR1 both the fastest and quickest Corvette ever produced.
One of the things he finds interesting is the rear air intakes on the sides of the ZR1 Coupe’s rear hatch. These are only equipped on the Coupe versions with the air flow specifically designed for brake cooling. He says that while the power ratings are done in a controlled test by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) which doesn’t measure that extra airflow, Doug says Chevy told him specifically that “at speed with all the air flowing in there, the coupe probably does make extra horsepower compared to the convertible because of these little air intakes on the sides that the convertible doesn’t have.”
Doug also touches on the Coupe’s split window design which is both a very cool look, but functional as well thanks to the additional vents. He wasn’t able to drive the car for this go-around, but he did give us some revs. His reviews are always “spirited” and that’s the case with his comprehensive review of the ZR1.

How much would it really have cost to offer the rear camera for the ZTK with a periscope to place the view over the rear wing? Like maybe $10 extra in volume?
Chevy also needs to install proximity sensors in the front grille to turn on the curb level front cameras automatically every time. This is an inexcusable oversight & a cheap fix. How can you be so ignorant, Chevy?
You need to proof read you article. The extra vents on the rear hatch are for air the engine ingests. The additional vents on the Y(“boomerang”) are for brake cooling.
