What if the designers of the 1963 Corvette Sting Ray split window coupe could have a do-over?
The only surviving member of that legendary team recently had the opportunity to do just that, incorporating changes he would have made today if he was still working for GM Design.

The result is a stunning Sting Ray that designer Peter Brock calls his Studio Concept 1963 Chevrolet Corvette, and now the prototype model for a planned run of 20 to be built by Florida-based Restomodvette will be looking for a new owner at the upcoming Barrett-Jackson auction running Jan. 18-26 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Brock’s do-overs include larger flush-mounted rear windows, flush-mount front glass, one-piece side windows, a taller roof spine, functioning side vents in the fender to engine area and B-pillar to interior area, custom hood grilles, custom Halo LED headlights by RestoMod Tech, a flush-mounted gas fill, flush-mounted cowl vents by RestoMod Tech, black chrome trim and a smooth front nose.

Coated in high solids GM Hypersonic Gray base/clearcoat paint, this custom car features a Cashmere interior with Douglass Products leather.
Mechanically, the car includes a new fuel-injected GM crate 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine and 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission, along with an Art Morrison C7 custom chassis, Vintage Air, Dakota Digital gauges, and Wilwood brakes.

Other nice touches are custom air-conditioning vents finished in leather, high-quality stereo system, rearview mirror camera, PCS push-button shifter, Ididit tilt column with Sparc Industries Flux steering wheel, Dynamat soundproofing and AM Hot Rod auto glass.
After debuting at the recent SEMA 2024, this custom Corvette has been driven only shakedown miles to ensure everything is working properly. So, would you like to see this do-over in your garage?

This is a beautiful & practical update to the landmark Sting Ray split-window design. Unfortunately, B-J collectors will bid this thing up so high that normal people will never be able to afford it. Too sad, because it really is one of the most significant cars of all time.
Museum piece, but very nicely done capturing the the timeless look of the ’63 Sting Ray coupe. I like it.
WOW, so beautiful even the late great Zora Arkus Duntov would approve. That’s if you really even know who he is, because less-than 10% of Corvette owners even know who he is.
Should have made it a manual !:(
