No matter how bad the condition of a Corvette is, there always seems to be someone out there who is interested in buying it.
Take this 1970 convertible, one of only 4,473 Corvettes built that year with the optional LS5 454/390 horsepower V8 engine – a $289.65 option that allowed owners to turn the quarter-mile in 14 seconds.
After having been parked for the past 52 years following a fire caused by a faulty headlamp switch, this once-speedy Stingray has resurfaced in Gifford, Illinois on eBay, where eight bids have been placed, rising to a high of $8,000, with the auction slated to end Sunday afternoon.
Alas, there seems to be lots of stuff that comes with the purchase of this rough-looking car, but unfortunately not included is the original engine. For what it’s worth, though, “all” the bolt-on original engine components are included, as are “all” factory air conditioning components.
Likewise, a copy of the original Corvette dealer order is included, along with a copy of the original title and “lots of paperwork,” if you’re into such historic documents and don’t really care if you can drive the car.
The original owner, who drove his Donnybrooke Green over black Corvette for 44,000 miles before the fire, sold it to the seller, who optimistically points out that the original tires and Rally wheels are included.
Would you be willing to take on this massive undertaking for what will always be a non-matching-numbers Corvette, even if it did start life as an LS5?

Nope
One man’s junk is another man’s gold.
A few more pics of the Interior and Driver’s side would have been nice to see the extent of the damage
