All the joys and none of the hassles of owning a big block C2 Corvette are waiting for you with this 1966 convertible being offered by a Colorado dealer.
Sure, stock big-block 427s are cool to have, but because few came with power steering, they could be hard to drive at low speeds, and they could sometimes run hot in city driving, too. Then again, the four-barrel carburetor was often hard to keep in tip-top shape, too.
That’s where this modernized 1966 roadster being offered for $127,500 by Farland Classic Restoration in Englewood, Colorado comes rolling into the picture.
It has a legitimate 427 pedigree, sure, but with an overhauled correct-series replacement installed several years ago, along with other modern mechanical upgrades, it’s morphed into a comfortable driving car nearly 60 years later.
Electric power steering, for example, makes it easy to park now, the Holley fuel injection provides instant starts with none of the fussiness of the original carburetors, and an oversized aluminum cross-flow radiator eliminates boil-overs on hot days. A Tremec five-speed manual transmission (with a new clutch) makes for low revs on the interstate now, increasing fuel economy and eliminating the high-revving strain of the original four-speed, but you won’t find any side pipes that may look sporty but can hurt your ears and burn your legs. Additional upgrades to the suspension, brakes, exhaust, and more add up to make the overall driving experience more comfortable, too.
Originally sold in Texas, this car spent decades in sunny Southern California before arriving in Colorado in 2020, so you don’t have to worry about encountering a rusty frame and birdcage. The exterior features a new coat of Ermine White paint, and a new black soft top has been installed.
Inside, the original red vinyl interior has been upgraded with red leather. Check out the Bluetooth vintage-look radio if you ever tire of the beautiful sounds coming from the 427 engine.
As the seller concludes, this car is now “turnkey ready to enjoy this spring” – definitely not a project to finish or a delicate trailer queen too valuable to drive. In other words, it’s been transformed into “the perfect enthusiast C2 Corvette.”
