The seller of this 2004 Corvette convertible believes his car is “as close to new as you can get.”
It’s hard to argue with that assessment. After all, this last-year C5 has just 1,327 miles on the odometer and has been stored in a heated garage by its original owner all these years, that is, until his recent unfortunate passing.
Now, the folks at Mustang Resto Parts, of all places, bought it from the estate and are offering this like-new Corvette for sale on eBay Motors with an asking price of $31,500.
Since the base price of the convertible back in 2004 was $51,535, a $20,000+ slice off some 20 years later might be considered an acceptable deal in some circles for a car in such perfect condition.
About the only thing this car doesn’t have over a new one is the factory warranty, and oh, if you plan to drive it, you’ll need a set of new tires for safety reasons as the originals are still in place. Other mechanical changes might also be required as time still takes its toll on some parts despite the lack of time on the open road.
Coated in Magnetic Red II paint with a Light Oak interior and Light Oak canvas top, this car has the stock 350-horsepower LS1 engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. It’s described as having “many options,” though we aren’t told exactly which ones. From the interior photos, we can definitely see that it doesn’t have a switch on the center console for the Magnetic Selective Ride Control that was a $1695 option.
Even though this is the last of the C5 generation, with an impressive 34,064 sold in 2004, this Corvette is never likely to be highly sought by collectors. Since that’s the case, if you bought this car, would you go ahead and drive it – or continue to keep it as a pampered garage queen? That’s a matter of personal choice, but I think I would opt instead for a higher-mileage example to enjoy, one that still looks nearly as good but available at close to half the cost of this one.

Because of the high price and the cost of maintenance this car will need from not being driven I would stay away from it.
I call this a waste… why buy a fine car, only to shrink wrap it?
As for fixing it? Meh… brakes and rubber bits. $5k, tops. but with a heated garage, I am not that concerned.
Yep, never did understand the “buy a new car and not drive it” crowd. I had a C5 97′ with really low miles, it had a few problems. My star tech at the Chevy dealer told me they do not like to sit. Although being in a heated garage is a big plus. To much money regardless. Should be driving it.
$20k maybe
I owned the exact same car and color and interior and year. I bought it when I lived in Florida.
