All Corvettes are red, at least in some circles.
Then along comes this gorgeous ’73 Stingray in Corvette Dark Blue Metallic, with a scrumptious Medium Saddle leather interior. Then add in the 454 LS4 V8 mated with a four-speed manual transmission.
And so much for that aforementioned supposition!
The owner bought the car in August 2021 and has spent the last three years freshening it up. Now he’s offering it on Bring a Trailer, where the current bid has hit $13,333 with six days to go in the auction.
The ’73, of course, marked the debut of the urethane bumper, but only on the front. That means the highly desirable chrome bumpers are still in place at the rear, making this yet another one-year-only Corvette.
The seller has already taken care of several mechanical issues, rebuilding the rear axle, carburetor, and front-end suspension components (upper control arm shafts, ball joints, tie rods, and idler arm power steering gearbox) and replacing the air conditioning compressor, master brake cylinder, power steering coupler, and assorted interior parts. He also re-cored the heater, replaced the associated hoses and vacuum lines, and replaced the AC compressor and hoses, starter, fan shroud extension, and battery.
Before he bought the car, it had been repainted in 2012 in Corvette Dark Blue Metallic. Since his 2021 purchase, the seller has replaced the front bumper cover and emblems.
Other features include a rear luggage rack, 15-inch Rally wheels, Cooper Cobra tires, power steering, four-wheel independent suspension, Bilstein shocks, and power four-wheel disc brakes.
Inside, the car’s Medium Saddle leather interior is in great shape and features a tilt-tele steering column, power windows, AC, and a fire extinguisher at the base of the passenger seat. The seller replaced the center console and center stack trim, shift boot, horn, door handles, and door springs, as well as rewiring the window switches, rebuilding the rearview mirror, and refurbishing the rear storage compartment.
All in all, a lot of the heavy lifting has been completed on this 52-year-old Corvette, and it appears to be well on its way to another half-century of enjoyment.
