When January rolls around next year, two teams will be competing in Corvette Z06 GT3.R entries for the full 11-round IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season in GTD.

DXDT Racing has announced it’ll be running its No. 36 Z06, beginning with the Rolex 24 at Daytona on Jan. 25-26, 2025. The decision comes on the heels of a similar announcement by the Andrew Wojteczko-led AWA team back in August.

“I’m really excited to take what is a big step for DXDT to compete in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in GTD next year,” DXDT team owner David Askew said in an interview with Sportscar365. “I began racing and working on building this team with the idea of eventually getting to IMSA, and everything that I’ve been doing over the past 10 years has been designed to help me achieve that goal.”

Askew credited the addition of Erin Gahagan as team manager and two-time GTD champion Bryan Sellers in the front office as two reasons to be excited about the upcoming season, noting that “now we have the right footing to take this step.”

In addition, Askew believes a budding relationship with GM and Pratt Miller “is a big part of what we needed to compete successfully at the highest level.”

The North Carolina-based team’s success this year with a run of eight consecutive Pro victories by Alec Udell and Tommy Milner in the Fanatec GT World Challenge America competition has proven “we can fight for podiums and wins anywhere we go,” Askew said.

“I’m looking forward to many years racing in the IMSA WeatherTech series,” he added. “This is a huge turning point for the team. I can’t wait to see what happens in the future.”

Sellers, who was recently named program manager, calls it “a very exciting time for everybody at DXDT Racing.”

DXDT has been trying to put this program together for a couple of years, he says, and has “just been waiting for the right time and the right partnership.”

Pairing up with GM and Pratt has provided DXDT the ability to join the GTD program “with confidence in what we’re capable of, while also being able to rely on their capabilities as well,” Sellers added.

“We’re all very excited about the opportunity to grow the program in one of the best sports car racing series in the world,” he said.
