Enthusiasts looking for a nice driver – but not so nice that an OCD owner will have to worry about it constantly – might be interested in this 1965 Corvette coupe being offered on Craigslist out of the Empire State for $67,500.

This vintage Sting Ray isn’t completely original so that perhaps keeps it from reaching the upper echelons of collector-hood. But that also means a new owner might not have to be so paranoid about rock chips and scratches while driving down the road.

The original Milano Maroon paint has been covered with a coat of Silver Pearl years ago but is said to remain in excellent condition and really shows the beautiful lines of this C2 well, according to the seller.

Likewise, the skeleton of the car is in good shape, with the frame described as rust free and the bird cage rated as “excellent.”

That good news continues with the matching numbers 327/300 horsepower engine that’s already undergone a rebuild in 2017 and is connected to a four-speed manual transmission. That’s not the most performance you can get from a C2 but it is a nice step up from the base 327/250. The engine compartment has been refreshed to stock specs with the shielding and air cleaner said to be correct.

This example also includes some nice features like aluminum quick take off wheels, wood steering wheel, AM/FM radio, tinted windshield, Positraction, and Comfort and Convenience Group with no-glare rearview mirror and backup lamps.

The maroon leather interior, meanwhile, is apparently not original as it isn’t mentioned on the reproduction window sticker, but it looks acceptable enough for a driver.

Getting ready to be sold, this car has also enjoyed an oil change and a lube job, and the mechanic took it on a test drive, ostensibly to search for any problems that might need to be repaired. It also passed a recent New York state inspection so this Sting Ray should be ready for the new owner to enjoy immediately.
