Here’s a C8 Corvette that’s sure to draw some polarizing viewpoints from our readers out there.

This black, yellow, and blue honeycomb paint job on this 2022 Corvette Stingray Z51 coupe is the latest creation of Count’s Kustoms, the Las Vegas-based customizers made famous by owner Danny “The Count” Koker and his History TV show “Counting Cars.”

Usually known for their work on classic hot rods, this was Count’s Kustoms’ first effort on an eighth-generation Corvette, Danny says.

While some of you out there might not be too crazy about their debut effort on a C8, as they say in the business world, the customer is always right. After all, he’s ultimately the one filling out the checks.

And in this case, Felix, the 72-year-old owner, is absolutely thrilled with the look of his Corvette upon seeing it for the first time at a recent reveal captured for the shop’s YouTube channel.

“That’s awesome looking!” Felix exclaims. “Wow, that’s phenomenal! That’s everything I wanted. It’s perfect. I love the way it starts real hot and fades back to black.”

Lead painter Ryan Evans explains that working on the car proved to be “a challenge, to say the least,” adding that he first likes to get to know the customer a little bit “so I know how far I can go with something.”

“And I’ve never met anyone like you,” he tells Felix, a former fighter jet pilot in the U.S. Air Force. “I’ve never met anyone that’s that bold, and I appreciate the hell out of it. It also makes me nervous as hell.”

No need for Ryan to worry, though, as Felix and his daughter are absolutely thrilled with the outcome.

Ryan explains that the idea was to give the impression that the car is going 200 mph even when it’s sitting still.

To accent the lines of the car that tended to fade with all the black background paint, Count’s Kustoms brought them back with bold yellow stripes filled with a blue honeycomb pattern that mimicks all the grille patterns on the car but almost disappears until the light hits it just right.

The customization continued even on the back hatch, with the underside theme featuring a black-and-white skull and crossbones and American flag, along with the signatures of the Count’s Kustoms crew.

“I couldn’t ask for anything more,” Felix concludes. “I mean, it’s perfect. I can’t get over how it looks, I mean, I can’t get over how it looks!”

  1. i think evan screwed the pooch on this one i think he could of done a way better design than this ,sorry i am not a yellow fan, and i think he outlined to much on the car, but then again you can not please everyone, as we all have our own tastes ,likes and choices.

  2. At first I didn’t like it, but the more I see what was done, the more I like it. The ghost blue is what makes it so unique. I change my vote to I like it.

  3. NOT HOT! Counting Cars is my all time favorite car show and I’ve seen every episode a few times. I’ve loved every vehicle they’ve done except for this one. I can honestly say I’m not crazy about the paint job on this car. I know Danny and Ryan and crew would have done a way more better custom paint job on it if they could have done their own design. This is all on the customer since he gave them his basic design ideas and Count’s Kustoms simply gave him what he wanted. You can’t blame Count’s Kustoms for this.

  4. I get why the little yellow triangles are there but eliminate them and I like it. (Plus, I like yellow, having had a yellow 2004 and 2016). Rapid blue now.

  5. I didn’t even know these guys were still in business, I see they still have that idiot douche bag Mike. Can’t stand that ass clown. At first I didn’t care for the yellow even though the 1000 they built to celebrate the C8 kicking ass on the track has them and it looks great. But I watched the vid and I kinda like it now.

  6. I wasn’t too big on it until I watched the video. That changed my mind, they really did a great job on it. I’d like to see it in person.

But they’re right in black you loose the lines and details, all blends together. Need Justin from HPO bring his car to them and add some red accents to bring out the body lines.

  7. “Only a face that a mother could love”.
(C8’s already look like they are going 200mph)?

    Sorry Count.
