Does this bright new color on the 2019 Camaro “Shock” you?
Chevrolet shared the first pics of the new exterior color which is described as Shock Yellow but referred to simply as Shock in the official press release. The color is featured on the 2019 Camaro SS that will be displayed at the SEMA show in Las Vegas October 30-November 2. ‘
The 2019 Camaro isn’t the only vehicle in Chevrolet’s line-up to receive the bright florescent exterior. Shock is also available on the 2019 Bolt EV:
So why are we interested in this new color?
When GM upgraded the paint facilities at Bowling Green, it was widely stated that the plant has the ability to offer 12 exterior colors. With 10 colors now in production and a new Corvette on the way, many watchers expect the plant to offer two additional colors to bring the total offerings up to 12 with the release of the 2020 C8 Mid-Engine Corvette.
Will Shock be one of the new colors?
Seeing the color on the Camaro SS, I was instantly reminded of the Hyper Green hash marks that Chevrolet has offered for Grand Sport owners. The Hyper Green hash marks option has not fared well, as we can only find 40 Hyper Green hash marks purchased in 2017 and just 4 in 2018.
So let’s put the question to a vote. I’m not asking if you would buy a Corvette in this color. I simply want to know if you like the color on a Corvette.
For many mid-engine sports cars, the term exotic also applies to their exterior color choices, which I find to be more daring than the exteriors on other types of vehicles. Imagine the 2020 mid-engine Corvette painted in Shock. If anything, the color would definitely signal that Chevy is done playing it safe when it comes to Corvette exteriors.
