Chevy has been teasing us with a new shade of paint coming soon to the ’25 Corvette – Hysteria Purple.
In case you can’t wait that long, a Florida dealership is offering a 1998 Corvette in a very rare, one-year-only shade of Medium Purple Pearl Metallic (also known as Majestic Amethyst) – one of only 229 C5 coupes ever painted that color. (Another 152 convertibles left the Bowling Green factory that year, too.)
Furthermore, for what it’s worth, the dealership claims that this particular car is one of approximately 25 produced in this color combination and options.
Based on a look through the listing photos, this one still looks pretty nice overall after being driven an average of about 3,300 miles each year over the past 29 years (which sounds better than the total odometer reading of 85,775).
Besides its black leather interior, the car features the standard 5.7-liter LS1 engine that pumped out 345 horsepower, along with four-speed automatic transmission, dual power sport seats, AM/FM Bose sound system with CD player, performance axle ratio, all power options, body side moldings, removable body color roof panel, and polished aluminum alloy wheels. The interior has also been customized with touches of carbon fiber on the dash, console, and door panels.
Included with the sale are the original owner’s manual, laminated window sticker, and build sheet.
If you want to be a unique draw at the next car show and love purple, you might want to take a look at this one.

I can see why the color was offered only one yea and only 25 made!
It’s not all that bad.
I suppose to 25 people vs thousands others it wasn’t that bad.
For those of you out there who can actually read this article there was a grand total of 381 coupes and convertibles painted this color in 1998, not just 25.
