[VIDEO] Chevrolet Drops a New Teaser for the C8 Corvette ZR1

I was just suggesting to some friends over the weekend that we should be due for another C8 ZR1 teaser following the official announcement back on April 10th that Chevrolet is revealing the new C8 ZR1 sometime this summer. Low and behold, a new teaser for the upcoming sports car was released this morning as Chevy once again proclaims the “Unthinkable Speed is Coming.”

This new teaser is done in the same vein as the first announcement. In the first two seconds, we see the ZR1 as it appears to travel downward on the screen from top to bottom, leaving behind two streams of a blue translucent smoke from its center-mounted quad exhaust. As the smoke on the screen reconfigures, we hear in the background the sound of the ZR1’s engine winding up and then the ZR1 logo is shown center-screen.

At this point, we watch as a silhouette of the ZR1 with the “Really High Wing” drives aways from the viewer, again with the blue smoke emanating from the quad-exhaust. As the smoke clears, we see the silver C8 crossed flags emblem in the center of the screen before the words “Unthinkable Speed is Coming this Summer” appears over it to end the teaser.

The teaser is just 22-seconds long, but it most likely gives Corvette watchers like us the opportunity yet to really hear that LT7 engine wind up. Are you hearing a twin turbo?

We also note that Chevrolet is using “Unthinkable” as its key word to describe the Corvette ZR1, and we wonder if that is referring to the supposed first ever use of twin-turbos on the car, or if it’s more of a reference to something else that allows the ZR1 to have in the neighborhood of 850 horsepower. They also added the word “Speed” to the phrase. In the first teaser, it was just “The Unthinkable is coming this Summer.” Now it’s “Unthinkable Speed is Coming this Summer.”

Give it a watch (and a listen) below and let us know what you think about the upcoming C8 Corvette ZR1 in the comments below!

  1. Too bad GM can’t limit distribution to ONLY those Dealerships that sell at MSRP or even sell direct and just pick up at a Dealership. Sticker will more than likely be over $200k, to begin with, they are loosing their loyal Corvette customers, with greedy Dealerships. Hope they don’t want them back anytime in the future.

  2. I’m struggling to find a local dealership that can competently change the trans fluid in my C8’s DCT. Calling around and listening to the kind of ignoramuses that answer the phone is terrifying. I actually had the service manager at one Ohio dealer ask me “a 2020? Is that the one with the engine in the back?” I’m in line for the ZR1 and the Zora but I can’t even get my regular C8 worked on without breaking into a sweat – what am I going to do with a ZR1 or a Zora?

  3. Who cares how much the ZR1 will be, availability is more important. No one can go into a chevy dealer and order a Z06 and get it in a reasonable time, same with the Eray. How can anyone get excited about the ZR1

  4. It took 3 years to get my C8 Z06. I expect it will be the same for the ZR1. Hope I make it.

  5. RE: DON BJORKLAND
Not true in Canada. Dealers sell at MSRP here, to bad GM USA did not crack down on this as it is bad for long term business.

I have personally already been offered two allocations for Eray’s here in Canada from two different dealerships and I am not even on a list. They can barely offload them up here in the Canadian market.
A new Rapid Blue 3LT Z06 was available at MSRP at a nearby dealer as well last week.
