The C8 Corvette is one of the most technologically advanced vehicles ever to be offered by General Motors, and one of the key features of the car is its first dual-clutch transmission, manufactured by TREMEC. The 8-speed automatic with paddle shifts provides lightening quick shifts for all three models in the line-up, however, the DCT has had some problematic issues over the last five years.
Most recently, we learned that a technical service bulletin (#N232427051) was issued in April for certain 2023 and 2024 Corvettes that had their transmission fasteners improperly torqued. Fortunately, the solution to this issue is a full replacement of the transmission unit instead of repairing it. The transmission swap will be performed under warranty at no charge for the owner through May 31, 2026.
We were told at the time that GM would be notifying those customers who were affected. Over the weekend, Corvette owners started sharing their letters on Facebook and the forums. We got this copy from an owner on the Facebook page “C8 Corvette Owners (and Friends).” The letter directs the owner to contact his dealer to schedule an appointment to have the transmission replaced with a new unit.
What we are learning about this technical service bulletin now that some letters have gone out is that it affects both the Stingray and the Z06. The owner of this letter also says he took delivery of his Corvette in December 2022, which is surprising that the issue goes back that far. Exactly how many affected cars are still unknown as they are not showing up when you search recalls. The positive here is that GM has caught the issue and now will be making good with giving customers a brand new unit.
Did you get a letter about replacing the transmission in your 2023 or 2024 Corvette? Let us know in the comments below and be sure to add your delivery date and specific C8 model.

Send the to the factory for repair…. no local Yokel’s….
Agree DB. I think that I would ask Chevrolet for a buy back if my Stingray was part of this recall.
Total BS that the VINs for this recall have not been published. I would want to know as the owner and potential future buyer.
Good luck on getting Chevrolet to buy back anybody’s C8.
M7s are looking good
Chevrolet will probably send the transmissions back to Tremec, then Tremec will remanufacture the transmissions and send them back to Chevrolet to re-install in someone else’s C8 Corvette, as the cycle goes on!
I own a 2023 Z06 manufactured in April 2023. No letter yet and no apparent issues yet either.
Lots of C8 problems. Yet they get rave reviews?
A recall is, in the final analysis, a costly distraction from normal business routines caused by a failure in internal development and operating processes. Moreover, it can shatter consumer confidence in brand or company. They may invite regulatory interference. They may even cause an otherwise sold organization to become unstable.
Many thanks,
Ray
Hmmmmm….I went to my local Chev dealer yesterday and they have NO RECALLS on their system at all, let alone this particular one. I even discussed with their specific Corvette tech, who has done none so far. This is obviously being done as a totally different process. The dealer also said this must be a very small group of cars. I just wanted to know – kind of like people with a hiereditary illness – wanting to know if they have the gene. OK, maybe a bit dramatic, but just would like to know…
I went to my local small town dealer to discuss this situation and inquire if they had done any transmission replacements. With regards to the letters coming out, he appeared completely unaware. Then he said only one replacement had been done in their shop, and it was due to owner mods, so the owner paid for it. Ouch! So I left with little confidence they could handle a replacement. Oh, and no recalls on my ’23 C8 in the system either.
