Corvettes for Sale: 1975 Corvette Convertible in Bright Green on eBay

If you’d been around for the first 20 or so years of Corvettes, you’d never have believed that Chevy would stop making convertible versions of its sports car one day.

After all, until 1963 with the introduction of the split-window coupe, all Corvettes were convertibles, starting with the 300 Polo White ’53s.

But things started to change with the introduction of the newfangled T-top Stingray in 1968, and these “faux convertibles” began to dominate the market, so much so that by 1975, Chevy announced that it would offer coupes only, beginning in 1976.

We can remember collectors snapping up the last of the convertibles in ’75, but even with the knowledge that totally open-air motoring was on the endangered species list, only 4,629 swan-song convertibles were built that year (compared to a staggering 33,836 coupes).

Most ’75s we’ve seen over the years have been in common colors like Classic White (8,007) and Silver (4,710), but a rather rare colored ’75 is up for sale on eBay right now with an asking price of $29,995. If that’s too rich for you, there is also a button to make your own offer.

While we have never considered owning a Bright Green Corvette like this ’75, which is one of only 1,664 built that year in this shade (with even fewer still convertibles), we have to admit it’s a rather striking color to us these days, especially when contrasted with the Medium Saddle interior and a white ragtop.

It’s not unusual to find low-mileage ’75 convertibles because – in a preview of the ’78 Pace Car furor coming in three years – some folks thought they would be a collectible and treated them accordingly from birth.

That’s why it’s not surprising half a century later to find this convertible has only 26,500 original miles. Described as “all original,” the seller does point out that their Stingray underwent a professional repaint around 2016. It still looks pretty good in the photos, and so do the interior and the engine compartment after all this time.

We’re not told much about the engine, though based on the lack of L82 badging, it’s likely to be the lower-powered L48 350 that produced 165 horsepower. The seller says the automatic choke on this one works “perfectly,” and it should have a little more pep in its step since there is no catalytic converter and it has a “true” dual exhaust, he adds.

He describes the car as “highly optioned,” though he doesn’t provide many details. We do spot power windows, for starters, however, and other upgrades include 1976 aluminum wheels, 1980 steering wheel, factory luggage rack, and passenger door mirror. He also adds that “everything works” except for the clock, alarm system, and rear defogger (though all the components are present so maybe they could be fixed).

What would you pay for a low-mileage ’75 convertible in a rare color?
