Workers at the Corvette Assembly Plant have really been busy cranking out the new Corvettes. After nearly setting a record last year for Corvette production, we can see that the foot never left the accelerator as they continue to assemble approximately 200 new Corvettes or more daily. With that many cars going down the line, there is always a potential for a mix-up with all the different parts now that they are building three specific models.

While this may be an “egg on the face” moment for the Assembly Plant, we find these mix-ups over the years offer a little bit of a levity in the production process, and they are generally something that can usually be easily corrected. And boy have we’ve seen some fun mix-ups over the years. There was the guy that got a two-tone Boomerang trim early in C8 Stingray production. There was also a customer who got two different styles of seats, and most recently, there was a 2023 Corvette Z06 buyer who picked up his car at the dealer, never realizing until afterwards that his car had a Stingray emblem on the rear deck.

This morning, we learned of another production mix-up after a member of the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com shared a couple of photos to “document” his one-of-one Z06. Apparently, there was a mix-up with the interior sill plates for his new Z06. While the driver’s side sill plate is correct for the Z06, the passenger’s sill plate that was installed was for a Stingray.

MECF member Jimsue8 shows two photos of his 2024 Corvette Z06 in Arctic White with a dipped Natural interior. While it indeed shows a Stingray sill plate, it’s not something that anyone would really notice other than the owner. Jim writes the following on the forum:

I can’t believe I didn’t notice this before but my sill plate on driver’s side says ZO6. The sill plate on passenger side says stingray! I don’t have another ZO6 to compare it with. Can someone look at theirs and let me know what you see? Thanks! Jim

The question that immediately came to our mind is there was a Stingray buyer out there with a Z06 sill plate?

So again, we throw this question out to the Corvette Nation. On one hand, this is just a simple parts error and is easily correctible. However, factory errors are always something interesting, and while it won’t add any value to the car, it does offer a fun story to share to other Corvette owners. The real question is can you live with the OCD, knowing you have a Z06 with a Stingray sill plate? I think this is a no-brainer but let’s take a poll and see if your thoughts match up with mine!

Would you correct this factory parts error?

  1. Says something about the inspection and quality control process in place at Bowling Green. With Stingray’s now piling up at dealers it might be time to slow things down and concentrate on delivering Corvette’s with fewer defects.
My 2023 Stingray had several body panel alignment issues and paint flaws when it was delivered last January.

  2. That’s funny as hell. If it’s not a Stingray then don’t leave a Stingray sill plate on it.

  3. Apparently it was also missed during PDI, but the QC at Bowling Green should have caught it long before that. Guess I had better go check mine…

  4. Just wait until GM does a Tyson Foods. Fire Americans and bring in illegals. You will have Chevy Bolt emblems on the back.

  5. Considering the price differential between Z06 and Stingray, the “halo” Z06 should get a second look before going on the truck at BG.

  6. My immediate reaction was to change it. Then I thought, leave it as a conversation piece. I would likely get tired of the error and change it…does not really enhance the car in any manner. The Z06 with stingrays front and back instead of winged logos, I might leave as I like the stingrays.
