[VIDEO] New Owner is Keeping the Stingray Badge on His Z06 But Says the Car is For Sale

Back in April we told you about the 2023 Corvette Z06 that was delivered to its new owner with a Stingray Badge on the rear deck instead of the Z06’s Cross Flags badge. It’s not many times we see a cross-model error like this leave the factory undetected, but in the grand scheme of things, it’s not like they messed up and put an LT2 in the Z06’s engine bay…it’s just a badge on the rear deck that assembly plant workers had previously installed over 101,000 times.

I was a bit worried that I came off too harsh in our original post. After all, this is the first Corvette for the new owner and we certainly didn’t want to spoil his fun. However, we have been waiting for the follow up video as the most important question to arise in our minds is do you keep the factory error or replace it with the correct crossed-flags badge?

A decision has been made and the Z06’s owner is keeping the Stingray’s badge on the car, which he describes at the “most famous mistake on any Z06 built so far.” He confirms that it “wasn’t ordered that way” and that he didn’t even notice it until an article on CorvetteBlogger put that on his radar. Your welcome!

While this factory-error Corvette Z06 is without a doubt a 1-of-1, the car was actually spec’d and ordered by someone who then backed out of the deal. Our ShiftTalk host says he was next on the list and took the opportunity to purchase the car as ordered. He says he would like to order a Z06 differently than the Torch Red Coupe, and that this car will be for sale. He says he will soon be headed back to Stonebriar Chevrolet to order his next one. He does mention that he will do a separate video discussing what he paid for the car, and based on his comments, we’re betting there was a hefty ADM on this car. Inquiring minds want to know!

Check out the ShiftTalk channel on YouTube as he already has half a dozen videos featuring his Z06:

  1. He doesn’t want to sell it for a huge profit, oh and looking for a collector. He sees $$$$$.

  2. Seems as if he’s a serial flipper he flipped his C8 2020 stingray to upgrade to a 2022 C8 Z51 flipped that so he could upgrade to a 2023 Z06 I thought gm was trying to stop all the flipping I guess not. I’ve had a deposit down way longer then this guy yet my dealership has only gotten 2 Z06’s I’m at #12 and by the looks of things it could take years to get a car. Very unhappy with gm who I’ve been buying for over 35+years . Ps I also had a C6 and have a C7 Z06

  3. Haven’t put a badge like that on a c8 100000 times..haven’t built that many of the c8s to warrant that!

  4. So ShitTalk spent all that money buying a new Z06 that wasn’t exactly what he wanted. He’s only owned it a few weeks and now he wants to dump it to buy another new Z06. I’m sure he’s going to milk this car for all he can since it’s a 1of 1 with a factory mistake. It all seems stupid to me.

  5. I own a lowly 2021 HTC Stingray. Don’t know about you guys but I am fed up to my azz about hearing about the Z06. So it has 160 more HP and is .2 of a second faster 0-60. I would like to hear more about the Stingray. All the Z06 is bragging rights. My old twin turbo C5 had 800 HP and would run circles around the Z. Nuff said

  6. Not sure if this mistake is worth anything.

Accidently stick a ZO6 engine in a Stingray (logistics aside)? Now that would be worth something!
