[VIDEO] 2023 Corvette Z06 Delivered with a Stingray Badge on the Rear Deck

Since February of 2020, workers at the Corvette Assembly Plant have built over 101,000 new C8 Stingrays, and it was only last fall since the Z06 was added to the mix. With that many cars being produced, we understand that there can be some unfortunate mishaps that can occur during the assembly process, and we assume that most of the times they are corrected during the quality reviews that come before the cars are released to the shipper.

But sometimes these mistakes make it out of the plant. We remember the time that a C8 Corvette Stingray was delivered with a two-tone boomerang, and our friend Al Fuller’s 2020 Corvette Stingray Convertible came with black rear engine vent that should have body color. While I am sure there are more, these two examples are the only ones out of those 101K Corvettes that I can reference.

Now that we’ve set you up with the story, check out this video featuring the unwrapping of a new 2023 Corvette Z06 at Stonebrier Chevrolet. The owner of the car is very excited of course, and we kept watching and waiting for the moment that he would see the wrong badge on the car, but it never comes. In fact, the new owner comes back the next day and takes delivery of the Torch Red Z06 with the Stingray badge still on the car.

The new Z06’s owner has a YouTube channel (of course!) called ShiftTalk and we can’t wait to see the follow-up video where the incorrect badge is finally discussed. Of course, that’s when the dilemma for the owner will really start. Do you take off the factory defect for the correct look, or do you keep the mistake on the car and get to tell a fun story about the Z06?

  1. Hopefully it has the LT6……actually in ’17 when I was walking along the assembly line as my Z06 was being assembled, two workers put a white halo piece on the roof instead of the proper Long Beach Red. The workers looked for my reaction and I said “you might have made the car more valuable”, they liked that response!

  2. I would absolutely keep it. I like that little stingray. Or add the correct badge if you need it.

  3. Where’s the Corvette quality control? How many people looked at that car and didn’t notice the mistake? Twenty some years ago I worked at a Ferrari – Porsche dealership. One time we got in a new Porsche Boxster with a rear emblem that was spelled Boxxster. Nobody could explain how that could happen. If that was my Z06, I would want the correct emblem put on it.

  4. I would definitely NOT change a thing!
‘What a unique and delightful “goof” in the assembly line…
“One of One”, as Patrick S pointed out above … ‘Hopefully the new owner will appreciate having a Corvette even more unique and special that they ever imagined…
Personally, I would be incredibly thrilled if I were to have that happen to me!
