Last weekend’s Grammy Awards weren’t all about Taylor Swift and her all-time record fourth Album of the Year prize.

For Corvette enthusiasts, the big winner proved to be the Janie’s Black Knight 1965 Corvette that was auctioned off during Steven Tyler’s fifth annual Grammy viewing party.

If you’re an Aerosmith fan, you know all about the band’s hit song “Janie’s Got a Gun.” Lead singer Tyler was in a recovery program in the 1980s where he met many women who had suffered “incredibly painful and debilitating sexual, mental, and physical abuse,” he said in a 2020 interview with Billboard’s Gary Graff. Their plight inspired him to write the song about a young girl who is abused by her father.

In the years since writing that mega-successful hit, Tyler teamed up with non-profit Youth Villages in 2015 to form the Janie’s Fund organization that seeks to raise awareness of abuse and neglect and to offer services and counseling to girls and young women who have been affected by such trauma.

To help raise money for Janie’s Fund, Tyler auctioned off a restored ’65 Corvette known as Janie’s Black Knight during Sunday night’s Grammy party, and the car turned out to be a real stunner.

Originally a dilapidated red convertible exposed to the elements for a decade, the car was brought back to life by FantomWorks, who completed the project in an unbelievable four months, including a spectacular black paint job and a FantomWorks patented 1963 split-window convertible top that makes it appear to be a coupe.

Also included are special features like one-off Dakota Digital gauges with the Janie’s Fund logo, a carbon fiber engine cover with red graphics, and a 100 percent black leather and deerskin interior with custom bolstered seats, leather one-off door panels, and French top-stitched red accent eyebrows.

Officials didn’t release the winning bid amount for the car, but we understand that the entire auction of art, Steven Tyler memorabilia, and a pair of Taylor Swift earrings raised more than $2.8 million for Janie’s Fund.

Now Janie has one heck of a ride indeed.

  1. This Corvette looks great dressed in all black and it sounds good too. That’s crazy how Dan and his crew can convert a C2 convertible into a split window coupe. I recall they did the same thing with a red C2 convertible on the very first episode of Fantomworks. Hate that the show got cancelled on MotorTrend but at least they still show reruns.

  2. What’s unfortunate is everyone is ready to help women and girls.. Yet men and boys are left by the wayside. This charity is just another example of that.
