It's Corvette Allocation Day for January 2024's Order Cycle

Today is Allocation Day for Chevy dealers who received their number of 2024 Corvettes that they can order for customers when the January order cycle opens up next Thursday. The quantities are broken down into each of the three models and then dealers can start trying to figure out what they can order. GM’s order process is somewhat chaotic in our opinion as dealers still have to wait until next Thursday to find out which options may be constrained, so we’ll have that info next week.

Right off the bat, we’ve heard from multiple dealers that they received zero allocations for the new 2024 E-Ray. The E-Ray was also skipped over in December’s allocation, however, we are finally seeing a controlled amount of quantities being built with the number today estimated to be around 25-30. Corvette Team members said they would be deliberate when starting up the new performance hybrid model, and what we are seeing currently almost mirrors the same kind of controlled start-up that we saw last year for the Z06.

Perhaps the best news recently is the Stingray, and it appears we are really, finally, at the end where dealers are still serving up allocations to those on their Stingray list. We are hearing that many dealers are now ordering Dealer Stock units with their open Stingray allocations so if you want to be driving a new Stingray this Spring, start calling around because there are availabilities!

As for the Z06, dealers are receiving Z06 allocations but not too many based on what we heard was given out last month. Something is going on in Bowling Green with Z06 production as we have counted just 70 units built since January 1st. We’ve seen them do that much in one day, so the fact that we are sitting at the 18th of the month and showing just 70 units completed is somewhat of a concern to us. We did have positive Z06 news last month with most constraints lifted from the visible carbon fiber aero and ground effects package which are required for the Z07 performance package. Let’s hope we’ll see more positive news on Z06 constraints next week.

Another development we want to touch on is the distribution of product info to dealers. In addition to the dealer’s allocations, they also receive a packet of information related to the various Chevrolet models which is called a Dealer Deck. It’s now been four straight months since Chevy has included any Corvette production information in these presentations. You can argue that there is nothing to share, but there is always some good news or nugget of info that can be passed along from the GM Mother Ship, and the fact that Chevy is keeping dealers in the dark on Corvette updates is always concerning to us.

So that’s the allocation report today. Next Thursday we’ll offer a post on the constraints and anything else happening out here in the Corvette Nation!

  1. So tired ofnhearing that GM has issues at producing the 2024 Z06. Fire the logistics manager for not thinking ahead. So many potential buyers have changed their minds and pur hated other options. Stop with the ads if GM cannot product it. Yes, I’m frustrated,so are hundreds like me. Okay, next compliant.

  2. Chevrolet is an utter mess. Aside from the horrendous lack of ethics and non existent quality at the stealerships, which is largely out of their control, due to ownership structure. The Z06 while a beautiful car is massively unreliable with a multitude of breakdown events on delivery from dealers. The mysterious rerouting of HUNDREDS of (many already paid for and insured) C8’s from BG to MI with ZERO communication and ZERO concession to the afflicted owners. GM DOES NOT CARE FOR DEALERS, OWNERS, OR FUTURE CLIENTS. Now the E-Ray, where SORP was scheduled October 23. They started producing 3 or 4 a day last week and virtually no allocations for the last two cycles. With no explanation!

GM’s arrogance and treatment of their customers, mismanagement of process and dealers, cow towing , cow towing to the EPA, and reactive nature to planning, will lead to their next and possibly final bankruptcy. I sincerely hope I’m wrong.

Their direction is akin to a drunk wandering down a street after closing time.

  3. I am really disappointed with ZERO Allocations for the 2024 Corvette ERAY. Have they found issues or defects that need to be addressed? Is there an issue with parts / inventory? Are they now using the ERAY platform for the new 2025 ZR1 or ZORA ??
They seemed to only have built an extremely limited number to hype this car. Do we have to wait for 2025 as typical plant change over occurs as of June. Curious that the plant tours have also been suspended – are they preparing for a new model release and just don’t want the public to see ?? Wish we had more information.
As I am 1 of many I imagine that have a new ERAY on order – awaiting acceptance and given a build date. I guess this might be waiting to see it under my Christmas Tree or New Years 2025.

  4. I have owned 14 Corvettes in my lifetime (73 yo) and never have I ever had a power train issue until my 14th Corvette. After 2 yrs and 8 months, with only 4400 hundred miles, after waiting 1500 for full break-in but never did a 0-60 run, the transmission had to be replaced!!!
I sold the car a month after it was replaced as I am waiting for my 15th Corvette, a 24 E-Ray HTC. Let me be clear, if this car gives me any transmission trouble, it’ll be fixed and then it will be for Sale and I will NEVER BUY ANOTHER C8 AGAIN, EVER!!! I can’t believe I’m saying this but after waiting 1 yr and 1 day for my 2020 HTC, and now I’ve been waiting for the E-Ray since Jan. 2023, but I am DONE WITH CORVETTES! Not sure what I will buy instead but back in 2014-2016, I owned a Jaguar F-Type conv. and NEVER had any issues with it! One consideration… another might be the Dodge Daytona Banshee, full EV with over 1,000 HP! We’ll see…please Chevy, don’t force me to do this after spending my lifetime loving Corvettes and most everything that goes with it!
