[ACCIDENT] 2023 Corvette Z06s Falls Off Dealer's Lift

Going to start off this post with a somewhat philosophical question…If a 2023 Corvette Z06 falls off a lift in an empty service department, can you still hear the screams from its owner?

Check out this photo that’s circulating on social media showing the aftermath of a Torch Red Z06 Convertible which fell off an unnamed dealer’s service department lift. Thankfully, someone on the Corvette Forum shared a quick surveillance video which appears to offer some crucial details to the event.

Our first response when seeing the pic is wondering how dealer technicians are continuing to make this rookie mistake, and unless someone can make the claim of equipment failure, it looks like that was the case. The YouTuber who posted the surveillance video says in his description that the lift arm wasn’t properly positioned which led to “the Corvette gets sliced like butter.” Several members of the Corvette Forum also concurred that the lift arm wasn’t at the correct jack points.

The rear lift points on the C8 Corvette were moved further back to make up for the 40/60 percent weight distribution of the car. Yet, this is at least the third C8 we’ve seen fall off a dealer’s lift that we know of.

One Corvette Forum member offers some good advice when it comes to having a service department work on his car: “One of the reasons I installed BRIGHT RED anodized jacking pucks. I just have to tell the service monkey to ‘lift it from the red thingys.’

  1. I installed red aluminum jacking pads on my C8, hoping this does not happen to me. I bet jacking pads were not used at all on this Vette.

  2. I bought a set of pucks as well, won’t get my car for another 10 days but it seems a no brainer, for non dealerships especially. Glad no one was hurt, would certainly make a bad situation worse.

  3. Calling technicians service monkeys.. not a good look for Corvette owners/community. Maybe some racist vibes.. definitely some elitist ones.

  4. I wonder what beyond the obvious body damage, this car suffered. Will they offer to bondo and respray that section of the car? Oh and the servicing at no charge.

  5. Were I the owner of that Corvette you can be certain if have contacted my lawyer first, insurance carrier second and depending on my lawyer’s advice I’d go from there.

Bondo and respray? No, new Corvette from the dealer and if one is not available to my liking within 10 business days I’d expect a comp Corvette while I wait for my new one.

No, these are enthusiast cars and the dealer knows this.

If they were slow in response in providing acceptable settlement I’d ask my lawyer just exactly how far I can go in publicly humiliating that dealership and I’d spend a lot of personal money embarrassing them, just for fun, I’m sure they’d understand…

  6. Give me some wax & the keys to that baby & I’ll have her buffed and shiny like nothing ever happened.

  7. Racerboy – You do not need to lift the car to install the jacking pucks. They fit into slots on the bottom of the car in the designated lift points which are easily accessible on the ground.

  8. Somebody is on the phone Heàring this message ALL DAY LONG going on 6 weeks WERE SORRY ALL AGENTS ARE BUSY AT THIS TIME PLEASE CALL BACK LATER

THATS THE MESSAGE FROM THE UNEMPLOYMENT OFFICE DAY IN DAY OUT

GOOD LUCK BUDDY HOPE YOU GET THOROUGH

ALSO WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS OLD. SAYING. YOU BREAK IT YOU BOUGHT IT

  9. Brett – not racist at all, or elitist for that matter. You come across as the kind of person who tries to find something like that in everything, even where it doesn’t exist. Apparently you’ve never heard the term monkey used to describe somebody (of any race) who can just do a very simple jobs without much intelligence needed. I’ve heard this term used for many decades related to many jobs.

  10. This seems staged. The camera jiggles, zooms, and pans as the car goes backwards. Was it really accidental?
