WardsAuto Names the Corvette Z06's 5.5L LT6 one of the Wards 10 Best Engines for 2023

Every year, WardsAuto offers up their list of the 10 Best Engines and Propulsion Systems. The last time we highlighted this list was in 2020 with the introduction of the C8 Corvette Stingray and the 6.2L LT2 V8 engine which made the cut. With this year’s introduction of the 2023 Corvette Z06 and its 5.5L LT6 V8 engine, Chevrolet has once again cracked the WardsAuto Top 10 list despite most of the other winners being electrified.

In determining which engines would make the list, Wards editors and analysts evaluated 32 vehicles of which 13 were internal combustion engines (ICE), 10 were Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and the rest were 9 hybrids (including five plug-ins).

The winners of the 2023 Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems are listed in alphabetical order:

  1. Too many 4 cylinders and golf cart motors on the list. This is all 1970s deja vu with great Detroit engines going away
