[VIDEO] Shawn Pilot Builds a Free C6 Corvette Convertible


A few months ago, we told you about Shawn Pilot, the “Wheeler Dealer” at Gotham Garage on the Netflix hit series Car Masters as he was able to pick up two damaged C6 Corvette convertibles for a total of $5,900.

His goal was to use parts from the “two ugly ducklings” to create one beautiful street-worthy “swan” of a Corvette.

In the latest episode that dropped Saturday, Shawn says he believes he can even take the extra parts left over from his Frankenstein vehicles and sell them for $6,000 – meaning he could turn out to be the proud owner of a free C6 convertible! That is, other than the chiropractor bills he may have to pay after turning himself every which way but loose in order to remove the old wiring harnesses that required a total disassembly of the interior!

At that point in the video, Shawn reports the good news that he has already sold a door, inner fender skirt, and fender for a total of $1,450 – meaning he’s well on the way to reaching his goal of a free car.

By the way, if you ever need help getting your mess of Christmas lights untangled for the holidays, Shawn might just be the man for you. Watch the video to see how he methodically begins to reassemble the interior of his Corvette over the course of two days, hooking up plug after plug, and it’s amazing to see how he does the job.

Next up is the installation of the engine, and then he finally is to the point where he can hook up a battery to test his work for the first time. He could very easily fry every module in the car at this point, making his dream of a free C6 literally go up in smoke. Fortunately, “no major catastrophe” takes place, and the interior light even comes on and the car dings when he opens the door and climbs into the driver’s seat, ready to push the start button.

“I feel like I just transplanted a brain into Frankenstein’s body and I’m about to wake him up for the first time,” Shawn quips. “Okay, wakey, wakey, Frankenstein!”

Hitting the Accessory button, the dash lights up and the radio even begins to play. Then comes the moment of truth as he pushes the start button to crank up his creation.

  2. Very entertaining video. The guy is amazing, and now I know why becoming a millionaire with a junk yard selling parts is possible.

  3. Wow, not even sure what to think. Part of me says”Dude just go find a nice one and friggen buy it!” What a shit load of work, but then the other side says “go for it man” one way to learn all about the car. I have a C6 GS and I would never try this lol.
