[VIDEO] Speed Phenom is Selling his 2023 Corvette Z06 for $225K

Just watched a video in which Speed Phenom talks about his ownership of the 2023 Corvette Z06, and we were surprised that he has decided to sell the car after just 8 months of ownership. You can find it listed on AutoTrader with the healthy price of $224,995. In case you were wondering why, the kid has a McLaren 750S to pay for, so the Z06 has to go.

Speed’s ownership lasted longer than some of the other influencers who also got early access, and during that time he entertained us with multiple track dates while also pointing out the issues of GM’s vehicle retention program and Chevrolet dealers’ inability to change the tires on visible carbon fiber wheels. For those moments, we would agree that his short time of ownership has been good for the overall hobby.

On the flip side of that though is that these same influencers are so cavalier of their ownership when there are thousands of “true enthusiasts” who would do anything for the opportunity to own the Z06. The whole “living life vicariously through them” is frankly exhausting. In his video below, Speed also talks about “how excited” he is about getting the new ZR1 as recent spy photos show Chevy engineers testing the camouflaged super car. Is that supposed to excite your legion of Corvette fans to stay subscribed while currently selling the most in-demand Corvette ever produced?

Remember that Chevy gave a bunch of these influencers early access to the Corvette Z06 and what did that goodwill buy? TJ Hunt didn’t even bother to take delivery of his Z06 before flipping it, while the Stradman claims his house construction overruns put him behind the 8-Ball, so he was going to sell the Z06 and buy a Nissan 400 or something. At least during the Stradman’s short tenure, he was able to “influence” countless subscribers over the issue of his Z06 leaking transmission fluid. How did that work out, Chevy?

We know now that Speed Phenom’s love affair with the Corvette is just business, and he says in the video that his business is getting eyeballs to watch his videos. Maybe his influence will continue to grow with the McLaren vs keeping the Z06, but we don’t aim to stick around and find out. As we have said about other countless “influencers” who have taken the money and run, we simply offer a “bye!” as we hit the unsubscribe button.

  1. Wow. Just wow. This is what? His second C8? And all this time, while these ‘influencers’ have been rushed to the front of the line to promote this car (as if the Corvette is hurting for sales), being wined and dined by GM’s brass and bragging nonstop about their exclusive access, there are countless thousands that have been waiting, patiently, for months, if not years, to get this badass car (regardless of variant/package) into their garage. Enough.

I appreciate you telling us how you hit ‘unsubscribe’ on this kid, but do it for the others, too. We’ve had enough.

I’d much rather watch the adventures of an 18 year old kid with a true passion for the Corvette spending all his savings to get his hands dirty on a C3 or C4 thats seen better days, get it running, looking good and winning the acceptance and respect of the community. Because at least that will be a genuine service to our community and a real passing of the torch!

  2. Well said. I think we all saw this coming, one way or another. I unfortunately wasn’t smart enough to even think about getting my name on a waitlist somewhere for a Z06 (until over a year ago) – but I’m willing to wait the next several years in the hope an allocation finally comes my way. Based upon how the C8 originally got rolled out and the same kind of nonsense that went on with the influencers and flippers that got first access, Chevy should have seen this coming….

  3. Wow, getting really tired of this dude. He’s like the dude version of that Emilia broad, tired of both of them.

  4. This doesn’t surprise me at all. He doesn’t deserve the privilege of owning a ZR1 when it comes out. He makes me sick and I wish he could just go the hell away.

  5. Agree with klw and Robert. This little twit turns my stomach, tried to watch some of his stuff, but couldn’t. Glad Keith said “Bye” and hope he says the same to the straddleman.

  6. OK…can’t keep everything but he just ordered the McLaren 750S…that is going to be a while before that shows up. And the ZR1? That will certainly be a while. Why push out the Z06 now? He has plenty of time unless he thinks this Z06 will be a hard sell. Well maybe a little since it does have some hard miles on it but it certainly has desirable options. I say he is jumping the gun by about a year. Is he so sure that Chevy will be right on top of getting him a ZR1 considering the little push/pull he experienced with them?

  7. He finally got tired of GMs crap. McLaren is the real deal. See a lot around here but I could never justify spending the money. I will stick with the so-called working man’s sports car.

  8. He has made videos in the past criticizing flippers…and now he’s doing it. Very hypocritical of him. I unsubbed his channel a while back because I found him to be very annoying (not as annoying as Stradman or Emelia, but close).

  9. I’m an old man. I waited 3 years almost to the day to get my R8C Z06 on May 16. The car is the best Corvette I have owned. I don’t have any followers, I stay away from Twitter, Tick Tock, Instagram, and most other social media except for Corvette Blogger, Corvette Forum and a C8-Z06 owners group on Facebook. I do not care for these influencers who got in line before me somehow and like Speed Phenom is now selling his car that he didn’t have to wait 3 years for like I did. This is such a joke. I have no plans of selling my car and was already offered $50K more than I paid (MSRP) before I even drove it home from the NCM. I am a true corvette enthusiast and don’t need a following to demonstrate my love for this car. Go enjoy your McLaren. (Not what I was really thinking)

  10. Good for him. He’s young, smart and ambitious.
He really has presented well all about this car to the Corvette community.
I’m looking forward to his ZR1 track days and reviews…..

  11. I sat in the C8 at the 2019 Sema and should have put in an order then. I waited just over 2 years at 3 different SF Bay Area Dealerships to finally take delivery May 27, 2023. We got 90% of what we wanted at MSRP. If I would have paid 20-30K over I could have had a car a year ago. It’s frustrating how GM allows the Dealerships to allow exaggerated market adjustments and then allows the U-Tubers to take car after car with GM’s support and Blessings. Speed Phenom is on his 3rd C8 and certainly many of us live vicariously thru some of these activities but when does GM have the “Balls”. The Balls to put the customer first and make these “high Profile” players and that is what they are Players and not truly sincere corvette enthusiasts get in line like the rest of us? Hopefully, GM knowledge’s that many are not happy with the way GM gives priority to these few and does NOT ALLOW a non-restrictive path to acquiring the newest C8 variation and begins to focus on the true core and heart of the Corvette following, the “true customer”.
