[VIDEO] Check out the Music Video for Michael Pacquiao's New Song Called Corvette

During our daily dive of YouTube, we came across a song and video called “Corvette” by a young Filipino artist named Michael Pacquiao. That name struck a chord of familiarity with me and knowing that boxer Manny Pacquiao is also from the Philippines, a quick search of the Google machine confirms that Michael is indeed Manny’s son.

Both Michael and his older brother Jimuel are into Corvettes, and Jimuel once shared a video about his Corvettes on YouTube that has racked up 3.4 million views. So, it’s no surprise that the 22-year-old aspiring singer would also share his automotive passion with a song dedicated to America’s favorite sports car.

“Corvette” is the first time we’ve heard anything from him. Music is such a subjective thing, and because most songs about Corvettes from artists you’ve never heard of pretty much suck these days, my expectations were pretty low.

But I gave it a listen and was somewhat surprised thinking it wasn’t bad at all. Listening to it a second time, the track has a nice little vibe to it, and of course, the visuals with Michael’s C8 Corvette Stingray on the streets of Manila just reinforces a line from the lyrics, “smooth like a wave.”

  1. I’m sure I’m dating myself with this comment, but I just don’t get it. How does this, or that other recent song “C8”, even come close to other Corvette-themed songs, such as “409”, “Shut Down, “Dead Man’s Curve”, “Little Red Corvette”, “Wray’s Corvette”, “Riding With Private Malone”, etc.? Or other car-themed songs such as “Little Deuce Coupe”, “Racing in the Street”, “455 Rocket”, “A Real Good Radio”, etc.? Okay, I’m done. I guess I’ll go back to my rocking chair and put on another LP.

  2. I got through about 30 seconds, knew it was going to be rap. That shit ain’t music. These snot nosed kids need to leave the Corvette alone with their (c)rap they call music. Yeah, like Doug I’m old and proud of it from a time when most people had some class, even musicians.

  3. Back in the day, Lou Rawls was on the Johnny Carson Show. Johnny asked Lou what he thought of the new Rap music. Lou replied that they forgot to put the letter C in front of it.

  4. This song sucks almost as bad as that last C8 Corvette song that was on here. At least him and his brother are into Corvettes so I’ ll give him a pass on that.

  5. If it had not been in the article, I would have never known the song had anything to do with Corvettes. All of this rap $hit sounds the same to me and I hate it. Couldn’t get through 15 seconds of it. Even turned down where I can barely hear it still gives me a headache. An old advertisement for Corvettes said something like “They Don’t Write Songs About Volvos.” Well, this should have been one.

  6. I think the record is stuck. Pure crap. I could write a better
song than this in less than 5 minutes.
