[VIDEO] DIY Project: Lowering Your C8 Corvette Z06

If you’re one of those Corvette owners who can’t stop looking at the gap of space between your wheel arches and your tires, Chevrolet does provide a way to lower that stance and make your Corvette look more aggressive. To show you how to do it yourself for free, we got the perfect Do-It-Yourself video from fellow Corvette Z06 owner Jesse Iwuji.

Jesse says there is “no need to go buy aftermarket springs or coilovers when you can do it at home with basic knowledge, and basic tools, watching my basic video.” He takes us into his garage and gives us a basic rundown of the tools you’ll need, and before starting the project, he takes some general measurements of the wheel gap on all four corners of the car, as well as measuring the distance between the ground and the front splitter.

With the wheels off the car, Jesse shows is the lowering mechanism on the coil-over shocks and how to access it so they can be lowered. He also suggests marking the lowering collar with a sharpie so you can easily count the total rotations. Jesse says he is lowering the rear of the car with 12 full turns while the front will be lowered with 10 turns. However, once he gets to 12 rotations on the rears, he feels it’s a little too much and so he backs it back to 11 total rotations.

At the end of the project, he goes around the car again with the tape measure and can just how much each corner was lowered, as well as the new clearance between the front splitter and the ground.
