Corvette Delivery Dispatch with National Corvette Seller Mike Furman for March 19th

Criswell Chevrolet’s Mike Furman delivers new Corvettes to his customers who come from all across the country to work with the nation’s top individual Corvette seller.

It was another typical work week for Mike but the payoff is always that moment when the keys are handed over to the happy new owners whose Corvette Dreams have just come true. This week, we see Mike’s customers taking delivery at the National Corvette Museum, the Maryland dealership, and a 70th Anniversary Stingray was presented to a customer through a courtesy delivery. Mike also has a quick story about the one time he and a Corvette got the lookover from a famous actress/model, and the collection of throwbacks and vintage photos should not be missed. ~Cool Zora Duntov Corvette and ultra rare! …In 1978 F. W. & Assoc. inc of Tempe, AZ manufactured a gas powered mini-Corvette in honor of Zora Duntov who had provided incredible leadership during his 20 years leading the Corvette engineering team. Recently a friend of mine named Jim O. of Southern Maryland picked up one of these rare special editions and it’s serial #0187. Which brought up the question, How many were built? Jim said the rumor was 300 produced to match the 1953 Corvette production number but he has yet to get a firm confirmation. Jim has been collecting these gas powered Corvettes for 45 years and this is the very first time that he has come across a “Zora” edition!

In 1978 Corvette News had a Red Zora special edition on the cover and it was being driven by Jeff Easley, the poster child for Spina Bifida. Zora lent his name to this project because of the proceeds earmarked for Spina Bifida. Tremendous effort by all for a great cause! So there you have it, another cool Corvette story involving Zora Duntov and the Corvette!

~My Brooke Shields story from the mid 1980’s…Gold metallic paint was an optional color during the C4 era between 1984-1987 and in those 4 model years GM built 157,017 Corvettes. Gold metallic production was a mere 5,015 units in those 4 model years! So every time I see a C4 painted in Gold metallic in person or in pictures I think of Brooke Shields the model/actress. One Summer Sunday mid 1985 I was leaning up against my friends Gold metallic Corvette in the Gym parking lot reading the NY Daily News. As I was turning the page I see Brooke coming out of the Gym doors and as she passes me she calls out “ That is one cool Gold Corvette!” Of course my response was, “why thank you!” I knew Brooke was born and raised in the same county as me but I had never seen her in person. The first picture is of Malcolm Konner and some of his family in the Corvette salon on the 2nd floor of the Malcolm Konner Chevrolet showroom on Rte 17 in Paramus, NJ. The Gold Metallic 1984 Corvette pictured was one of the first C4’s to arrive that Summer after GM had to skip the 1983 model year production run.

~Robert U. of New Braunfels, Texas tended to some business back home so his son Lee picked up his new Red Mist 2023 Corvette Z51 coupe at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY this past week. Equipment list: 2LT pkg, front lift, magnetic ride, Z51 pkg and much more. The photos are now supplied to me by Fotofx, a company that has been working within the Museum for the past 10+ years and now they have pkgs available for a truly special experience to be captured digitally. ~Neil G. of Spring Hill, Tennessee made it a family affair when he recently took delivery of his Hypersonic Gray 2023 Corvette Z06 at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. I’m sure Neil was on cloud 9 taking that first ride from KY to his Tennessee home! Equipment: 2LZ pkg, Black interior, GT bucket seats, microfiber seat inserts and steering wheel, machine face forged aluminum wheels and much more!

~Vince M. of Naples, Florida factory ordered from me his new Silver Flare 2023 Corvette Z06 convertible with Natural interior. We completed the paperwork/payment process via Fed Ex. Vince wanted Criswell service to pre delivery inspect his Corvette before being shipped South to his Florida home. Equipment: 3LZ, CF painted Nacelles/roof, front lift, carbon ceramic brakes, black exhaust tips, rear corvette script in red, visible carbon fiber wheels, visible carbon fiber grille and more. Quote from Vince…”The C8 Z06 is truly the best car I have ever driven. All the best to you.”

~Ben K. of Howell, New Jersey and his good friend Barry from Farmingdale, NJ wanted to order 70th anniversary Corvettes to be picked up at the Museum. Ben ordered the Pearl White metallic and Barry ordered Carbon Flash Metallic, both exactly the same equipment for their new Convertibles. I called in the orders and was able to get them built sequentially, Ben has vin 2051 and Barry has vin 2052! Two great friends with two great Corvettes. ~Neil W. of Coto De Caza, California placed his factory order with me for a museum delivery in Bowling Green, KY. Neil is a relative of Larry Shinoda, and Mr Shinoda has a banner hanging in the Museum as he is a prestigious member of the Corvette Museum Hall of Fame. Mr Shinoda often visited Malcolm Konner Chevrolet each year for the annual Corvette show so I was fortunate to have met him on several occasions. Neil’s Red Mist 2023 Corvette Z06 coupe is loaded! Equipment: 3LZ, Natural dipped interior, competition seats, visible cf roof panel, front lift, cf interior trim, ceramic brakes, edge red calipers, visible CF wheels, and much more. ~David and Cheryl G. of Delaware, OHIO placed their factory order with me and they chose to take delivery at the National Corvette Museum in KY. Today the Museum staff rolled out the Red Carpet for the entire crew. David and Cheryl drove home their new Red Mist 2023 Corvette Z51 coupe with Natural/Black interior. Equipment list: 3LT, Stealth interior trim, magnetic ride, edge red calipers, black exhaust tips, gloss black wheels, two tone interior, Z51 pkg and much more!
