Corvettes for Sale: Torch Red C8 Z06 with Z07 Offered on eBay for $800,000

So you just thought $275,000 for a new Corvette Z06 at the recent Mecum Kissimmee auction was insane, did you?

How about $800,000? That’s the latest figure being bandied about by an eBay user named Joanncop for this 2023 Torch Red mid-engine Z06 coupe that’s being auctioned off through Feb. 16.

Naturally, no bids have been placed on the car, but we do note that 13 people have been watching the auction in the last 24 hours. Even with no bids, the outrageous asking price is bound to get lots of attention on the internet, though, and the seller is likely just fishing for the best offer.

Unfortunately, not many details are included with the listing, other than it has the Z07 package that adds $8,995 to the base price and comes with Magnetic Selective Ride Control, Performance Traction Management, and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes with 6-piston front and 4-piston rear monobloc calipers.

The four photos do reveal a few more details to a sleuthing potential new owner, like the fact that it is also a top-of-the-line 3LZ model (that starts at $120,545) with the Dipped Adrenaline Red interior, GT2 seats, and Carbon Fiber Interior Package Level 2 ($4,995).

On the exterior, we can also see the Carbon Fiber Aero Package but we can’t definitely tell from the photos if it’s the painted ($8,495) or visible ($10,495) version. Likewise, are those black wheels the carbon flash-painted version for $9,995 or the visible carbon fiber version for $11,995?

Of course, all Z06s include the 5.5-liter V8 DI high-output flat plane crank 8600 RPM redline engine that makes 670 horsepower and is hooked to an 8-speed dual clutch transmission.

  1. Nearly a million dollars and a voided warranty to boot! All brought to you by GM’s refusal to build volume production.

It’s mystifying why GM won’t ramp production commensurate with demand, to alleviate this ongoing nonsense. This has never been an issue with previous generation Z06s until the C8. Hell, you could even walk into a high volume Chevy store in 2019 and order a C7 ZR1 at MSRP. I predicted this kind of thing would play out when Chevrolet decided to move to a mid-engine platform. I don’t think they’re willing to admit or even self-acknowledge that the complexity of a mid-engined vehicle is not only orders of magnitude more than a FMR layout, but is also unsustainable for a high volume, “everyman’s” sports car.

  2. You have to wonder why GM created this mess. Definitely not a “every man’s sports car anymore”. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to purchase a new C7 Grand Sport before this whole BS with the C8 started.

  3. My bid: $65,000. Included are taxes and title, white-glove delivery right to my front door and a full tank of gas. Oh, and a really nice pair of leather driving gloves. Red.

Propose an idiotic offering and I’ll present you with an equally idiotic reply. I had nothing else going on today anyhow.

    Rick
