Corvettes for Sale: 1970 Corvette Convertible with 350/300-hp V8 and a Four-Speed

A lot of folks are watching the eBay auction for this 1970 Corvette convertible, but no one has pushed the button to place the first bid so far.

That’s likely because the eBay auction, which ends Tuesday evening, features a starting bid of $22,000, with a “Buy It Now” number of $28,500.

That’s a little steep for some folks, apparently.

Still, we really like the look of this Mulsanne Blue Stingray with its white ragtop, one of just 6,648 convertibles produced that year out of a total of 17,316 built at the St. Louis factory.

This one is said to retain the original paint, which is a big deal for enthusiasts interested in originality. Believe it or not, the sheen still looks pretty good after 53 years in the photos with the listing, so a repaint might not necessarily be needed.

The dark blue interior, meanwhile, looks to be in original unmolested condition, too, and just some new floor mats, door sills, and deep overall cleaning might go a long way toward sprucing up its overall appearance without breaking the bank.

Since the car isn’t heavily optioned with niceties like air conditioning or power windows, it’s no surprise that the base 350/300 horsepower V8 engine was also chosen by the original owner. It remains in place to this day, still connected to a four-speed manual transmission, too. Despite being a “no-cost” motor, this one still was capable of completing the quarter-mile in 14.7 seconds and reaching a top speed of 123mph.

Keep in mind that 1970 was the last year before Chevrolet had to detune engines because of federal emission standards.

While this car isn’t perfect, it’s our belief that its blue and white color scheme – not to mention those beautiful chrome bumpers – would still turn plenty of heads going down the road. Don’t you?

  1. With 121,000 miles and basically no options (Except convertible for $343) and side pipes that don’t belong on this car, no way it’s worth $22K.

  2. I purchased a 1970 Corvette coupe with this same base option list in 1973. It too had these side pipes which were a dealer installed option that year while in 1969 they were available from the factory. The dealer even installed the correct solid panels under the rear bumpers replacing the factory exhaust cut outs. It was a very nice look.

I kept that car until 2001. Good solid runner.
