Couldn’t you just see Shaggy and Scooby riding in this car on their way to investigate a crime?
This custom 1971 Corvette T-top coupe is on the market at eBay, where 16 bids have pushed the highest offer to $14,050 with the sale set to end Tuesday afternoon – a number well shy of the “Buy It Now” price of $27,500.
We spotted it on Barn Finds, where the Baby Boomers have really been drooling over it.
One reader gushed: “I too went a bit crazy seeing this wonderful ‘time freeze, magnificent, piece of eye candy’! Normally I like my Corvettes factory-correct and had many that way over my 72 years. Somehow, this custom one is done amazingly well and has just the right look. Because I can no longer drive a manual and can’t get in/out of Corvettes anymore, I know I won’t buy it BUT I still CRAVE this car…even just to park it in my garage and look at it.”
No word on when the car’s custom white, purple, and mauve paint job was applied, but other than some chips on the rear passenger fender, it’s held up pretty well, at least in the photos with the listing.
The huge raised hood makes room for a matching-numbers 454/365 horsepower V8 engine hooked to a four-speed manual transmission, so the new owner should have loads of fun showing off in his (or her) new ride.
The car is said to have been in storage for years, but the seller – who’s had it for a year – recently got it out, and it’s running, driving, and stopping once again. “Smokes a little when you first start it, but the engine sounds great,” he says, noting that the Holley carb shown in the photos will be replaced with a Q-Jet unit by the time it’s shown.
“Hard to find a matching numbers car like this,” he adds, especially with a custom paint job like this one.
Oddly enough, the customization of the car doesn’t extend to the deluxe black interior, which surprisingly remains stock though now in somewhat worn condition. Maybe some more appropriate velour seat covers could be applied, along with new carpet and a general refreshening throughout.
It would be nice to find out more about the history of the car and who took it in this direction back in the day, wouldn’t it?

She’s obviously been hit in the front since she has a ’68-’69 type front clip.
That’s a good catch Larry+D. For some strange reason maybe a previous owner wanted to retrofit it with the 68-69 style front clip.
Seller should have taken the $15,700 it was bid to. There’s a lot of surprises waiting to be discovered in this one.
