Constraints Finally Show Availability of Z06's Aero Package, But There's a Catch

We know how frustrating the Z06 ordering process has been, but are we now finally starting to see some real improvements? Yesterday, I brought the news that production of Z06s had set a new milestone on Tuesday with 32 Corvette Z06s produced during the day. Now we have a surprise January Z06 order cycle starting today!

Dealers were sent their allocations today and with it came the constraint report. Since the very first allocations and constraints came out for the Z06 back in August, we’ve seen the Z06’s High Wing on 100% constraint with 0 availability nationwide. After Chevy sent out its latest constraints to dealers today, we’ve reached out to a few to get those numbers.

The big news is that the Z06’s high wing is finally showing quantities that isn’t 0, at least for some dealers. From four different constraint reports, we are tracking 75 T0F carbon flash high wings and 54 T0G visible carbon fiber high wings. That catch though is that to make the Z07, you need to also have the CFZ or CVF ground effects and that’s what is now stopping dealers from submitting Z07 orders during this order cycle. We are only showing 20 CFZ carbon flash ground effects and 0 availability on the CFV visible carbon fiber ground effects.

We did see in December that some buyers who were able to submit a Z07 order during the first order cycle had their Target Production Weeks pushed back to February, so our thinking is that any and all available high wings and ground effects packages available are being targeted for those existing orders. We are not out of the woods yet, but we should be seeing some additional Z07s now being built and there are at least another 20 carbon flash Z07s that can be ordered during this cycle.

One final point is that these Z06s ordered during this cycle are initially set for a Targeted Production Period for the week of February 20-26th.

As far as other constraints go, we are still seeing the 5ZZ carbon flash High Wings for the Stingray and the 5JR outside mirror caps in visible carbon fiber on 100% constraint.

  1. My dealer has called me twice and this is exactly what is holding up my order for my Z06. I was hoping for these restraints to be over during this allocation, but I guess not. I am not happy. All my paperwork is complete, and I have the GM workbench order detail in my hand but no CFZ or CVF. 34 months and counting.

  2. A lot of people waiting are starting to get fed up with this forever to build conundrum. Just as they looked like they were going to start building some ZO6’s they delay production to build E rays and eat up all the carbon ceramic brakes available !

  3. yes 34 months. My dealer had their reservation list way before the summer of 2022 and had a lot of names on it before I signed up. My reservation changed to a preliminary order in the GM orderworkbench system several months ago. When the dealer got allocation, they also get a list of items that are not available or on constraint. So, when I got the call in December and January allocations, I could have had my order entered if I wanted to forgo those options which I do not. So, people who did not want the Z07 options are able to get their orders processed.

  4. Maybe it’s just me. But I’m number 11 on the Z06 list at the 4th largest Corvette dealer in the country. (It Rhymes with Romnin) It’s a no frills LZ2 and my order continues to sit at 1100. My dealer tells me nothing. And in the mean-time Chevy comes out with the Eray which I view as a better car than the Z06. To me Chevy just gave us a pie in the face.

  5. Frustrated in Miami,
I feel your pain. My dealer which is #1, has been very communicative and responds to both VM and e-mail. When they have allocation, they call me. I have been very happy with them but not so much with Chevrolet. Good luck with your order.
