[VIDEO] Emelia Hartford Goes for a Wild Ride in the 2024 Corvette E-Ray

Business in the front, party in the back…

For our next take on the all-new 2024 Corvette E-Ray, we head out west to an undisclosed location with the Queen of Speed Emelia Hartford who got her own private look at the new hybrid Corvette ahead of the reveal. In her video, she is with the Silver Flare E-Ray with the Blue interior and the exclusive Electric Blue racing stripe.

Emelia gives the E-Ray a proper walkaround, pointing out the various features and equipment on the new sports car. The new E-Ray comes with 495-hp from the rear’s LT2 V8 and 160-hp from the front electric drive motor for a combined 655-hp and Emelia shares the performance stats of 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds, quarter mile in 10.5@130 mph. Like many of us, Emelia wondered what happened to the space of the front trunk, which in the end, is almost unchanged from the Corvette’s non-hybrid models.

Inside the cockpit, Emelia captures the dash animations which we think are pretty cool and then goes through the new menus. This includes the choices now available at startup with Stealth Mode and Shuttle Mode now selectable in addition to the normal V8 startup. Emelia is joined by “Ken the Corvette Engineer” and they head out on the road, which was closed by the California Highway Patrol for Chevrolet to film the car ahead of the reveal.

Once on the streets, Ken lets the E-Ray off the chain, performing a number of J-Turns, eAWD donuts, and in general, just letting the car rip. We noticed that when Emelia was in the driver’s seat in the beginning, the odometer was only showing 127 miles so the car hasn’t been fully broken in and unlocked yet. That’s doesn’t seem to stop the car from doing its thing, and Emelia makes the point that the electric motor sounds in the cockpit remind her of Batman’s electric motorcycle (the BatPod!) in the Dark Knight movies.

While we’ve seen Stealth Mode demonstrated in nearly every video we’ve watched on the E-Ray, we get a better look at what is happening on the dash and the infotainment screen with the E-Ray Performance App. In Stealth Mode, the screen changes to a simplified display and as the speed reaches 45 mph, the LT2’s flying start syncs the rpms with the transmission and turns the engine on. The dash display turns red, then green as the engine starts up. On the infotainment screen, we see a new animation of the E-Ray and then a menu that appears to show the customization of settings.

“I already have two Corvettes. How many do they expect me to buy,” says Emelia as she wraps up the video.

  1. Please GM, don’t let her buy one. She’ll crap that one up, just like she did with her Z06.
