[VIDEO] Emelia Builds a Straight Pipe Exhaust For Her New 2023 Corvette Z06


Emelia Hartford is back in sunny Los Angeles and so is her new 2023 Corvette Z06. Her video starts with her opening the garage to show both the new Z06 side-by-side with her White/Orange Stingray named Phoenix. After a cold start, she and her friend take the cars down to the shop as she explains the plan is to create a custom one-off catback straight pipe exhaust for the Z06.

One of the things she did to protect the car on its cross-country journey was to use those sticky floor mats that dealerships use to keep the carpets clean when you bring in your car for service. She had wrapped a bunch of those around the front end of the Z06 to protect it from rock chips and other road debris. As she pulled it off at the shop, she remarked that she saw no rock chips. That’s a pretty good dealership hack to remember if you don’t have access to track wrap or a nose mask for the car.

Emelia just did a straight pipe for her Ferrari 458 and because the layout is similar between the two engines, the Z06 exhaust will almost replicate that. She says she wants the X-Pipe to really bring out the sound, but it almost sounds like she is having second thoughts after revving the stock exhaust last time. “Cindy Molnar, the performance engineer at Chevrolet who spearheaded the sound and vibration on the Z06…touche my friend. Good work,” says Emelia as she is standing underneath the disassembled Corvette.

Next comes the design and fabrication of the straight pipe exhaust and using a cardboard template, they match up the two exhaust tips with the Z06’s rear fascia with the two pipes exiting from the outside openings. Once the fitment is confirmed, the exhaust is removed and Emelia uses a MIG welder to weld the pipes together. As the exhaust is sitting on the table, she says “This looks cool, this is race car,” and adds “This is the C8.R exhaust. Did you know the C8.R has the same engine as the Z06?”

Once installed, she starts the car, and again, a camera can’t do the straight-piped sound justice. But we know it’s loud just by how it she sounds as she tries talking over it. She takes the car for some quick runs up and down the street and the Z06 exhaust sound reverberates off the buildings.

She ends the video back where it started with both Corvettes in the garage. “Just seeing these, I think we need to race them,” says the YouTuber. “I think we need a side-by-side race the Z06 with the C8 Stingray.”

  1. I really don’t understand or agree with GM or Chevrolet giving these influences their vehicles before the regular customers that stand in line. These so-called influences don’t sell the corvette. It sells itself. All these idiots do is modify them and run them in ground. They add no value to the product.

  8. Sick of these so called experts getting a Z ahead of true corvette owners. Even freeking driving schools are getting them. I bought my first in 1977 i will be dead before my deposit even allows me to order.

  9. She is in the same club as the jerk with sunglasses making their expensive toys sound like one of those jacked up in the front and ghetto wheeled with the loud 8″ exhaust pipes hanging down. Might as well add a tow bar and hang a set of balls on it.

  12. I’m a 77 year old retired contractor. My best friend in high school invented an exhaust system that will give your Zo6 a sound like no other !!! He named it the pipe organ !!! its very simple, contact me if you are interested & i will send you a sketch. You will LOVE it, probably NOT permanent but a FUN thing to do.
