[VIDEO] Throttle House Races the C8 Corvette Z06 vs a GTR NISMO and a 1,000-hp R34 GTR

The Throttle House guys tell us that after racing the new 2023 Corvette Z06 against a Dodge Demon and the Ford GT, it’s finally graduation day with the American Ferrari now facing some of its stiffest competition yet. Today the Corvette Z06 will be squaring off against the Nissan GT-R Nismo and a modified R34 GT-R Skyline that’s capable of over 1,000 horsepower.

The races consist of both a start from a dig, and then a rolling start, and it’s apparent that the real star of the video is the modified Skyline which absolutely demolishes the two modern sports cars. From the dig, the Z06 lost out to the superior traction from the all-wheel drive Nissan GT-R, but during the roll race, the Z06 was more than capable of finishing ahead of it (but not the R34.)

The 2023 C8 Corvette Z06 ($189,027 in Canada, $164,505 in the US) could be well described as a feat of American engineering, but how does it compete against the pinnacle of all-wheel drive speed from Japan? Today it’s up against a Nissan GT-R Nismo ($291,998 in Canada, $210,740 in the US) and a violently modified R34 GT-R that pushes over 1000 horsepower. Will the mid-engine layout and roaring American flat-plane crank V8 be enough to overcome the legendary Nissan turbo 6? Thomas is in the Corvette, James is in the GT-R Nismo, and our friend @OriginalAuto is piloting their R34. Get ready for some loud noises. Things don’t always go as you might expect in a drag race! Especially when a tuned GTR is in the mix…Watch to see what happens!

  1. The weight shown for the Z06 is dry weight, no fluids, no gas. You can add 200 lbs to that dry weight. The other cars have the correct weight shown and that is curb weight.
